Maria Rita de Souza Brito Lopes Pontes (Salvador, May 26, 1914 - Salvador, Brazil, March 13, 1992), better known as Sister Dulce, or the Poor Blessed the Poor Dulce, having received the epithet of "the good angel Bahia ", was a

Catholic nun in Brazil. Sister Dulce became famous for his works of charity and assistance to the poor and needy.

Tarsila do AmaralTarsila do Amaral, born Capivari, September 1, 1886 - Sao Paulo,

was a Brazilian painter and designer, and a central figure in Brazilian painting and the first phase

of the Brazilian modernist movement, along with Anita Malfatti. His picture Abaporu, 1928, inaugurated the movement in the visual arts cannibalistic.

From 1966, now sells his paintings, donating part of the money raised

to an institution run by Chico Xavier, whom he befriends.

He visited her when passing through

Sao Paulo and both kept correspondence.

Roberto Marinho

Pisani Roberto Marinho was born in Rio de Janeiro, December 3,

In over 30 years, the Foundation has developed educational technologies, using all possible tools, such as television, books and internet, to train educators and students.

Paulo Freire

Reglus Paulo Neves Freire (Recife, September 19, 1921, Brazil was a Brazilian

educator and philosopher.

Was noted for his work in popular education, geared for both the school and

for the formation of political consciousness.

It is considered one of the most outstanding thinkers in the history of Pedagogy world,

influencing the movement known as critical pedagogy.

Freire criticized the traditional system, which used the booklet as a central tool of instruction in teaching reading and writing.

Ayrton Senna

Ayrton Senna da Silva was born in Sao Paulo, March 21, 1960, in Brazil, was a Brazilian Formula 1 driver, three times

world champion in 1988, 1990 and 1991.

He was also runner-up in the controversial championship in 1989 and 1993. He died in an accident at the Autodromo Enzo e

Dino Ferrari at Imola during the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.

It is recognized as one of the biggest names in Brazilian sport and one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history.

Chico MendesFrancisco Alves Mendes Filho, better known as Chico Mendes, was born in Xapuri, December 15, 1944, was a rubber tapper, unionist and environmental activist in Brazil.

His political activity aimed at the preservation of the Amazon rainforest and gave him worldwide recognition.

In 1987, Chico Mendes was visited by some members of the UN in Xapuri; they could see firsthand the devastation of the forest and the expulsion of rubber tappers caused by projects financed by international banks.

In 1989, the group Torture Never Again, a Brazilian human rights NGO, created the award Chico Mendes Resistance Medal, a tribute not

just to Chico Mendes, but also to all persons or groups who, according to the organization -

fighting for human rights.

The award is given each year and personalities like Dom Paulo Evaristo Arns, Jaime Wright,

Louise Erundina Bicudo, Paulo Freire, Barbosa Lima Sobrinho, Herbert de Souza, Alceu

Amoroso Lima, Luis Fernando Verissimo, Zuzu Angel, Oscar Niemeyer, Brad Will and

organizations like Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Bar Association of

Brazil (OAB) have received the honor.

Pelé

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pele.Born in Three Hearts - Minas Gerais –

Brazil, ex-football player.

It is an important figure because in Brazil, Pelé is hailed as a national hero for his

achievements and contributions to football.

It is also known for his support of policies to improve social

conditions of the poor, and even dedicated his thousandth goal for

poor children in Brazil.

During his career, was called King of Football, Pele, or simply King.

LULA

Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, former President of Brazil(Garanhuns, PE, October 27,

1945), better known as Lula, is a politician, a former trade unionist, former

steelworker and former president of the Brazilian Republic.

He was the thirty-fifth President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, a position which

position he held from 1 January 2003 to January 1, 2011.

Much has created several popular social programs for the benefit of the Brazilians.

Machado de Assis

Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis, was born in Rio de Janeiro, June 21, 1839. It was a

Brazilian writer, widely regarded as the biggest name in national literature.

He wrote in virtually all literary genres, being a poet, novelist, columnist,

playwright, storyteller, feuilletonist, journalist and literary critic.

Witnessed political change in the country when the Republic replaced the Empire and

was a great commentator and reporter of the socio-political events of his time.

At 21 years old Machado was already considered a personality between the wheels intellectual Rio.

Machado has worked extensively as a reporter and journalist from 1860 to 1867. Enjoyed great prestige in life, really rare for a writer at the time.

He was elected first president of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Machado's work is of fundamental importance for the analysis of political transitions in Brazil and society of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil - nineteenth and twentieth century.
