The original Bundy clarinet - the first commercially successful molded clarinet introduced in 1948. Utilizes a large, straight bore for minimalresistance and a big, vibrant sound.

Although the bore size of the Selmer (USA) Grenadilla wood and Resonite®

clarinets measures the same, the models CL201 and CL211 deliver a morefocused, professional sound based on a wider flare in the top of the upper jointand a more cylindrical bell design. Positioning and sizing of the register venttube on the models CL201 and CL211 improves tuning of the left-hand section.For example, play middle E, add the register key to produce twelfth above andcheck the pitch of both notes. Do the same with middle F and high C. Clarinetsmade from Grenadilla wood produce a rich, warm tone quality. Unfortunately,wood is susceptible to cracking. Selmer ages and treats the wood to stabilize itand minimize the chances of cracking.

Selmer ages its Grenadilla wood, grownin the Africa countries of Tanzania andMozambique, for two years before put-ting it into production.

Selmer impregnates the pores in the wood grain using a special oil bath to repel moisture and

minimize the expansion and contraction that

leads to cracking.
