THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
ON THE ROAD
One central metaphor employed to
describe the Christian life is a journey. In today’s second reading, Peter addresses
the early Christian community: “Conduct yourselves with reverence during the time
of your sojourning” (1 Peter 1:17). When
we think of a journey, we normally think of some kind of movement from point A to
point B. The Christian journey, begun in the waters of baptism, (point A) has as its
ultimate destination eternal life with God in heaven (point B). Unfortunately, we find
ourselves on all kinds of detours along the way. Because of sin, we make foolish turns
and sometimes seem unable to detect the presence of the Lord. Today’s story of the
two disciples on their way to Emmaus illustrates for us the fact that, even when
we are dejected or on one of our many detours, the Lord is there, walking right

V National Encuentro
of Hispanic/Latino Ministry V Encuentro....
Our parish will be joining other parishes from our Dioceses in participating in the V Encuentro.
What is the V Encuentro? A process of evangelization,
communion, and consultation. Goal:
The main goal of the V Encuentro is to discern ways in which the Church in the United States can
better respond to the Hispanic/Latino presence, and to strengthen the ways in which Hispanics/
Latinos respond to the call to the New Evangelization as missionary disciples serving the
entire Church. Sign ups where done during Mass today for
people who will like to be a part of V Encuentro, which will begin this week. If you did not have an
opportunity to sign up during Mass, but will like to join please call the parish office and let us know.

La novena dará inicio el domingo 14, al lunes 22 de mayo del 2017. Si deseas inscribir a una mamá (fallecida o viva), lo puedes hacer anotando su nombre en un sobre que encontrarás a la entrada del templo, el próximo fin de semana, el cual contiene una tarjeta muy hermosa que puedes regalar. El sobre debe de ser depositado en la canasta de la ofrenda o traerlo a la oficina parroquial. GET ON THE BUS Este año nuestra parroquia pudo apoyar el programa “Get On The Bus” el cual da la oportunidad a niños/as de ir a ver a sus papás los cuales se encuentran en la cárcel, para el día de las mamás y papás. Este año pasado más de 1,100 niños/as en todo el estado pudieron participar en este programa de “Get On The Bus”. Nuestra parroquia dono la cantidad de $1000, parte de esta cantidad fue recaudada por la comisión de alcance comunitario y justicia social.

The theme this year is “As One, Building Our Future Together.”
I would like to formally thank all those who have pledged their support to the parish and our local Church. As of today, 251 people donated the amount of $25,669. NOVENA FOR MOTHER’S DAY The Mother’s Day Novena will begin on Sunday, May 14th to Monday, May 22th, 2017. If you want to sign up a mom (deceased or living), you can do it by writing her name on an envelope that you'll find next weekend in the entrance of the church, which contains a beautiful card that you can give away. The envelope should be placed in the offering basket or you may bring it to the parish office. GET ON THE BUS This year our parish was able to support the program Get On The Bus which gives the opportunity for children to go to see their parents who are in prison for Mother’s and Father’s Day. This past year, over 1,100 children across
the state were able to participate in Get On The Bus. Our parish was able to donate $1000, part of this money was raised by the Outreach commission.

EN EL CAMINO
Una metáfora importante que se emplea para describir la vida cristiana es la de una peregrinación. En la segunda lectura de hoy, Pedro se dirige a la primera comunidad cristiana: “Vivan siempre con temor filial durante su peregrinar por la tierra” (1 Pedro 1:17). Al pensar en una peregrinación, normalmente se nos ocurre algún tipo de movimiento del punto A al punto B. La peregrinación cristiana, que comenzó en las aguas del bautismo (punto A) tiene como destino final la vida eterna con Dios en el cielo (punto B).Desafortunadamente, en el transcurso tomamos todo tipo de desvíos. Debido al pecado, tontamente nos desviamos y a veces parecemos incapaces de detectar la presencia del Señor. Hoy, el relato de los dos discípulos camino a Emaús ilustra el hecho de que, aunque nos sentamos abatidos o muy desviados, el Señor está allí, caminando junto a nosotros. Copyright © J. S. LA META: La meta general del V Encuentro es discernir maneras en las que la Iglesia en los Estados Unidos pueda responder mejor a la presencia de los hispanos/latinos, y potenciar a los hispanos/ latinos para que respondan como discípulos misioneros al llamado a la Nueva Evangelización, sirviendo a toda la Iglesia. Hoy durante la Misa se llevaron a cabo las inscripciones para ser parte del V Encuentro, el cual dará inicio esta semana. Si usted no tuvo la oportunidad de anotarse durante la Misa, pero le gustaría ser parte favor de llamarnos a la oficina parroquial para anotarse.
