You continue to give our students & our

    communities unique learning opportunities.

1 Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center

  • PICTURE THIS: These accomplishments are a result of your caring

    130 schools

    brought students for

    a 3-5 day stay

    9,999 students, teachers & parents

    were connecting to the environment

and each other. And sharing all they

    learned at home!

    2,311 family members spent

the day at Eagle Bluff learning

in a new and fun way

    85 kids explored,

    discovered and played at our

    Summer Camps

    1,953 people got away to

    enjoy retreats and trainings

    at Eagle Bluff

    530 individuals

    met the challenge on our

    Summer Open Ropes

    held on Saturdays &

    new in 2012 Tuesdays

    as well!

    2,795 students from

    38 schools received

    scholarships so they could

    share in this unique learning

    opportunity with their

    classmates.

    1,113 attendees combined

    good food and company with

    learning at our adult events

  • New Class: You continue to enrich our students learning

3 Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center

Our newest class, ―Inside Energy‖, helps students explore alternative energy sources. Students learn about

our current energy source—coal—and discuss it’s limitations. Then they explore alternative energy sources at

Eagle Bluff. They consider which sources are most effective and least problematic for a sustainable future.

Finally, they present their energy recommendations for Eagle Bluff and Minnesota.

As these plans may take a while to implement, students learn what actions they can take today. They leave class

understanding how daily decisions can impact their future and how wise choices can make a difference.

A NOTE OF GRATITUDE: You give us all a reason to be thankful

    2012 Gratitude Report 6

    Dear Friends,

Liliana’s got it right. You are caring!

And, it’s you that makes all the learning that happens here possible. Whether it be a student here as part of our

Residential School Program, a family exploring nature and learning new skills together at a weekend event or

public program, or adults attending a dinner or retreat. You are Eagle Bluff.

I hope that does make you proud. Because we’re proud and honored by your commitment and dedication to

    our students.

    Sincerely,

  • 2012 GRATITUDE ROSTER You change lives for the better. Thank you!

Did you know that our Food

Service staff is doing more cooking

    from scratch? Using fewer

    processed foods means our food

    service staff spends more time

preparing food– but it cuts down

on expenses & tastes better too!

Our goal is to do more than fill our

    student’s stomachs. We want to

enrich their lives by teaching them

the joy of good nutritious food.

    Our new snowmobile’s

primary job will be to groom

cross country ski trails, but it’s

also nice to have in case of an

    emergency. Thank you

  • PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

Meeting the needs of our students & communities

Printed on 50% post consumer recycled paper

Current social and environmental needs spurred us to take action. Populations are growing. Resources necessary

for survival are limited and under stress. Children are at risk. Childhood obesity/type 2 Diabetes is increasing.

People are looking for answers and ways to improve their health and the health of our environment. We share

these concerns—in fact they trouble us.

And with that in mind, a group of stakeholders met to develop a vision on how Eagle Bluff could become part

of the solution. The Blufflands Sustainability Center was the answer. The goals are:

    1. To become a Sustainable Campus and an educational model.

    2. To create an Organic Farm and Farm School to produce food for Eagle Bluff and give people the

opportunity to work the land and implement this into their own food production.

    3. To work with corporations & organizations who want to integrate sustainability into their operations.

    4. To help our community members get back to basics with the River Roots Skills School.

You can request more information on this project by returning the insert in your report in the enclosed envelope.

Seed money to develop projects is often the hardest dollars to secure. We

express our deep thanks and appreciation to the Blandin Foundation who has

provided these critical dollars 3 times over the last 20 year period!

Most recently they provided planning money for the Blufflands Sustainability

Center to help us better serve our students and rural communities.

Thank you Blandin Foundation for being there for us over the years!
