Minnesota Water Safety Coalition

Came together in 2011 in response to record number

of drownings.

Partnerships include:

Abbey’s Hope Charitable Foundation

Cabela’s

Cities including: Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park,

Minneapolis, Plymouth, etc.

Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol

North Memorial and Safe Kids NW Metro Minneapolis

Three Rivers District Park

and many others

Life Jacket Loaner Stations

Safe Kids NW Metro Minneapolis received a grant

from Safe Kids WW in 2008 and placed 3 life jacket

loaner boxes on Lake Minnetonka.

The Coalition decided to add three life jacket loaner

stations in 2014:

• Medicine Lake, Three Rivers Park District

• Lake Independence, Three Rivers Park District

• Bryant Lake, Three Rivers Park District

How do you make it happen?

Partners and Sponsors

• Identify location

• Identify sponsor – box only or box and life jackets

• Sign on box includes sponsors name

• Decide who will install

• Contact media when put in place
