My name is Charles-Édouard, I am a freelance graphic designer and all-round creative and curious person.

I have been drawing and creating things for as long as I can remem-ber. I started making logos as soon as I got my first computer, and have been growing my (graphic) design knowledge ever since.

After working in various marketing positions, as well as running a branding agency with a partner, I have decided to strike out on my own. I love coming up with great ideas and growing them from concepts to reality. For me the process is key to the result. I will do my research, engage with my clients and learn what I have to learn in order to create tailored and beautiful designs.

Living across Africa and Europe, travelling a lot, and reading avidly have given me an open mind as well as a wealth of experience and knowledge which I draw upon everyday. I am constantly experi-menting and learning about new things, from design and technology to history.

ZaftZaft is a German juice trader/wholesaler, with a number of sister companies producing the juice across the world. The brief was to come up with a new brand to unite all the companies under one banner.

The identity is inspired by a more process based approach to fruit, juice, and juicing, what the company does. The ‘drops’ vary in colour and can be used to match a number of changes (e.g. in fruit, company, or processing stage).

The ChartaThe Charta is a slow news website that reports on major world events later than other outlets. The two weeks liveline allows for more in-depth research and understanding of these events.The identity is based on a more traditional newspaper

name and design as The Charta goes against the way media operates today. This allows it to be associated with a more traditional form of journalism and stands in stark contrast with the more modern designs of the new fastpaced media.

Palmarium Magazine (and Gallery)

Palmarium is a cultural magazine aimed at the refined reader. The main focus of the publication is on the timelessness of its subjects and content. The identity designed is therefore both classic and modern, focusing on the timeless aspect of the brand.

The Gallery is a daughter project to the magazine, it aims to bring the traditional cultural activities such as exhibitions and guided tours online. Thus, a more modern identity was derived from the original one.

Trouvé

Trouvé is a boutique tourism company which aims to provide local insider travel advice to travellers tired of drowning in masses of tourists. The name Trouvé, French for ‘found’, reflects the niche and boutique aspect of the brand. The modern

identity and frame leave plenty of space for the actual content. The logo icon plays on the keyhole motif developed by the tagline “Unlock your destination”. Simple and colourful framed images are used to ignite and inspire wanderlust.

FerryMelchior

FerryMelchior is a branding and communications agency focused on corporate and upmarket clients.The idea behind the very sober and stripped down identity is to inspire confidence and professionalism. More importantly it allows FerryMelchior’s clients’

brands to take priority and shine in contrast. Despite being stripped down the identity is very scalable and offers elements to play with.

International Museum of Art (IMOA)

IMOA is a concept for an international museum in the form of a travelling floating structure that can be deployed on any major waterway. The museum would have art from everywhere but the country where it finds itself.

The particular structure and concept of making art travel and accessible across the globe offer inspiration for the identity. The logo is based on the museum itself, while the colours and identity are simple and accessible reflecting the philosophy of the concept.
