Letter from the Editor
There are so many traditions surrounding weddings today that it makes it hard for anyone who wants to push the boundaries
readers may want to do but because if the stigma they feel like they cant. This magazine celebrates the differences in all of is and
I watch “Say yes to the Dress” on TLC all the time as well as the million other wedding shows on that network
(seriously, why are there so many?) like “Four Weddings” and I’ve noticed that every single bride who wants
to push the boundaries has very little room to push. Those who are trying on wedding dresses and want to
choose a color other than white or a style that is unusual is questioned and treated like a leper. The couples on
“Four Weddings” who do anything out of the ordinary are criticized and given low scores by the other brides.
What everyone on the outside has forgotten to do is remember that this is not their wedding. A wedding can involve hundreds
of people but it is really only about two and if they decide after the ceremony the bride and groom are jumping in a pool in
their wedding dress and tux it is no one else’s business (except maybe the owner of the pool) and no one has any room to judge.

4 DIY DosIf you do your own makeup, you’ll be in the privacy of your home or hotel room -- and you won’t have to book an appoint-
ment (or worry about being on time)! Grab a few basics: foundation, powder, eye shadow, blush, and lipstick. Put on enough to accentuate
your best features. Worried about looking washed out in your photos? Do a trial run and have a friend take a few pictures.
The ceremony lasts less than an hour, so it seems like a waste to pay big bucks for specialty arrangements, especially
-
A quick way to save money on wedding favors is to add a personal touch. Sweet treats are a safe choice. Grab a box of your
favorite mix and start baking. Pack them in colorful boxes or cute bags. For nonedibles, wrap up tree saplings or donate to charity. Be sure to
give guests handwritten cards that say you’ve given in their name.
Specialty papers, postage, and card sizes can cost hundreds, and you still might not be
off of your compute void the mistake of getting too fancy and using oversized envelopes -- they cost extra to mail.
