Page 2: Graph Analysis

I asked three groups of people of 5 their ages, the first was from 15-20, the next 20-30 and the last 30-40. I thought it would be easier to make it so that each group of ages had 5 people in it for the rest of the questionnaire to not be biased, therefore giving me reasonable results and to allow me to figure out the best age group for my target audience. This then made it easier to correlate the rest of my results in a set of three graphs, thus allowing me to decipher which age range I should be aiming my product at.

Page 3: Graph Analysis

The first group that I had was mostly made up of females, as 3 of the group were and only 2 were male. This told me that for this age group it would be easier to aim my product as more of a feminine thing, however the interest that was given by the males may second guess this.

15-20: 20-30:

The second group came out different in this as there were more males in this group than females, but only just as there were 3 male and 2 female, unlike the first group that I asked. This has told me that for this age group it would possibly be more appropriate to aim at males, using different colours etc. than what I have for my for my visualisations.

30-40:

The last group that I had more females in than males, this told me that within this age group more females read than males and would prefer to see a book review. Ultimately from a comparison of the three age groups, the last age group made it clearer that my product should be aimed more at females than males, therefore from this I will change my product to fit this.

Page 4: Graph Analysis

15-20: 20-30:

However, I asked the question of whether they thought that the product I intend to make was appropriate for both the genders or if it just gender specific. In the first group most of the people said that it was appropriate, and only one person said no, but suggested that it may be better to make it orientate around the genders, by changing the coloursslightly. This told me that it may be easier to approach both genders within this age group as both female and male teenagers read.

However, when I asked the second age group what they thought, most of them said that it was gender specific to female as the coloursused are more suitable to make it a feminine product within this age group based on these results.

30-40:

The last age group suggested the same thing as the previous age group, that it was suitable to be aimed at females as it appeared that they read more than the males in the group. In comparison to the other groups, they all suggest the same fact, that I should make it more of a feminine approach because of the colours and layout that I used in my visualisations.

15-20:

The next question that I asked the three groups whether they thought I should approach the age range of 10-60, or whether it should be changed, the majority thought that the age range suggested was appropriate as it would be good encouragement for younger ages especially. However, one person said that it should be changed to a higher to lower age.

20-30:

The next age group suggested a more reasonable response to this question as the majority said that it was but the minority that said no, suggested that maybe I should lower the end age of the range as YouTube's demographic is more suitable for teenagers and young adults more than older people.

30-40:

The last group that I asked the question had the majority said that my product wasn't suitable for my suggested age range as they, alike the previous group, suggest that young adults and teenagers need to be encouraged to read more with the current fall in children reading nowadays. Compared to the other responses I received, the last age group suggested the most reasonable change.

15-20: 20-30:

The next question that I asked was whether or not the group believed I could make a decent looking book review in 2 minutes and the first group gave very mixed responses, the majority said yes and no, and only 1 of them said that they were sure, that maybe it might be too short but considering the brief, that's the only thing that's not changeable.

The next group disagreed with my question and the majority said no, as it would be too short and I wouldn't be able to give enough information out to my audience about the chosen book, however 2 people said that it may be possible for me, therefore, within my visualisations I am going to plan out what to say.

30-40:

The last group's majority said that it was definitely possible for me to make a decent book review in 2 minutes given the fact that I don't speak too much about something else. However, people in this group were still sceptical but comparing to the previous two graphs, this seems like the more reasonable response that tells me if I plan it out, I could potentially make a successful video.

Page 7: Graph Analysis

15-20:

The next question I asked the three groups was whether or not they liked the colours that I used in my visualisations and I also asked them if I could improve on them, to explain how I could do that. The first age group, the majority said that they didn't like the colours I used, it was too simple and that I should add more vibrant, eye-catching colours that would interpellate the audience. However, 2 of the group said that they did like the simple style that I had created but did advise to add more colour. This has told me that for this age group, the more colour they see, the more interested they would be.

The next age group had a very similar response, but in this instance, more people said that improvements were necessary as it was too simple in the colours that I used. Therefore, the one person that said they liked it, backed up the idea that more colour was needed to really interest the audience I am trying to aim it at. This age group has told me similar to the first group.

20-30:

30-40:

The last age group had the same response as the first, that the colours weren't suitable to what I am planning to create, therefore the use of more colour is needed to really keep my audience interested, especially among people of this age group. By comparing all the graphs together, the same result was concluded, therefore, I will have to change the colours used in the visualisations I created to make it look more interesting to the audience I decide to aim it at.

Page 8: Graph Analysis

I then asked whether they thought that the typography used was suitable and fitting to people that are book readers and the first group came up with a reasonable response. The majority said that the typography used was very fitting, however, they advised along with the minority that said no, that changes in some places would be necessary. Such as making some of the writing bigger so it is easily read, but not too large.

15-20: 20-30:

The next group came up with similar answers to the previous group. They said that the typography was very suitable for book readers as it's just big enough to read, and that the only thing letting it down was the lack of colour used. This has told me that this age group doesn't mind the size, font etc. of the writing as long as they can navigate it properly.

30-40:

The last group that I asked, the majority said that the typography that I used in my visualisations was appropriate for book readers as it was large enough to read and put in the best places for the audience to navigate to, however, 2 of the 5 said that it wasn't appropriate as the colours and the font I used was just too simple. In comparison to the previous two graphs the majority of the people I asked in each group said that the typography used was appropriate for each of the different ages, therefore, I will keep the font and size etc. to the same standard at which I had created with my visualisation.

Page 9: Graph Analysis

I then asked the first group whether they thought that using YouTube to present my video was appropriate or would it suit a better video site. The majority said that it was the best one to use as it is a website that people visit everyday whenever they can in their spare time, therefore it would be easy for me to present it on YouTube and have my audience interested in it.

15-20: 20-30:

The next group gave a similar answer, but 2 people said that a new video site would be appropriate instead of YouTube but that was outwieghed by the fact that most of the people in the group would prefer to see it on YouTube and they said it was very appropriate to use the site in question. This has told me that people in this age group use the site quite frequently and they believe that this site is very suitable for my idea.

30-40:

The last group had a very similar response to the first group. They believed that YouTube was the best site for me to use for my idea as if I was to present a video, the best site to use would be YouTube.

Page 10: Graph Analysis

The next question that I asked referred to whether they liked the idea of an online book review and I got reasonably mixed answers within this. The majority said that they did like the idea, but 2 of the 5 said that they didn't as they weren't readers themselves, but the people that said yes, suggest that I should alter it slightly to make it more interesting to book readers.

15-20:

The next group had more of the people say that they liked the idea of an online book review, as it would be more visual for people that were interesting in looking at the review of the book they want to read, but the one person that said they didn't, suggested that if I changed it slightly to have more colour etc. they might be interested in the idea more.

20-30:

30-40:

The last group had the majority say that they didn't like my idea of an online book review, that they prefer to see the the blurb of the book and read it based on that, they aren't too fussed about going online and seeing what someone else said about the book. This has told me that people in this age group don't like looking online for the book review of something they are about to read.

Page 11: Graph Analysis

I then asked whether they liked the idea of linking all of my products together on a main website. The majority liked the idea because they believed that it would be easy to navigate and it would be good for them to see all the products linked on the website, and they said that they would look at them all.

The next group had more people say no but the majority said yes, and they agreed with the first group, but the people that said no, suggested that maybe it would be easier to exhibit the products separately to keep the audience more interested.

The majority of this group said something similar, that they thought that exhibiting all the products separately would have the audience asking for more instead of being disappointed when it comes to looking at the website and this has told me that maybe using the website to promote products would be easier and then to present them all separately.

30-40:

15-20: 20-30:

Page 12: Graph Analysis

The next question that I asked was whether they thought it would appealing to see the book throughout the entire video. The majority said that they would like to see it as it is the product I am talking about therefore it would easier to show the book throughout and keep the audience interested as they would be following the book as well as what I would be saying.

15-20: 20-30:

The next group also said that they would prefer to see the book as well as it would be interesting to see what the product I'm talking about looks like so that if the people watching it wants to read the novel, seeing what it looks like would be easier for them to find. This has told me that people in this age group prefer to have visual things instead of have a boring video with someone talking all the time.

The last group said something much different, they believed that seeing the product all the time would become boring and that it would interesting to have different shots of the book and then have a few shots of me talking about it and that it let the audience be more interpellated.

30-40:

Page 13: Graph Analysis

I then asked if they thought that added annotations to the video based on the book review, and the majority said no, as they thought they would be distracting and that what needs to be said in the video should be voiced by me, however one person said that would be if they were info for English classes, or if they showed the main channel's logo etc.

15-20:

The next group said the same however, the people that believed it would be helpful suggested that maybe the annotations used should be to tell the audience information on the book for classes that they might use in it, if the book review is based on something on the school's curriculum etc. This has told me that this age group believe that the annotations on YouTube are distracting and that if I was to use them, it would be for educational use.

20-30:

The last group said that annotations would be very helpful for the book review as if I don't talk about it for the whole 2 minutes, it would be more visual for my audience if they could read what I wrote for the annotations but 2 of the 5 said that annotations would be very distracting to the audience. This is very similar to the response for the first group, as they both said that it would be distracting but also informative for the audience.

30-40:

Page 14: Graph Analysis

15-20:

The next question I asked was fairly similar to the previous one, as I asked if they thought it would be good to talk about the book for the entire 2 minutes. The majority said that they didn't think it was a good idea as I should save time for introductions and goodbyes, other recommendations etc. as that would be more interesting to the audience.

The next group said that it would be better for the audience if I talked about the book for the entire 2 minutes as it seems like a hard time to fit a successful book review in, therefore, it would be easier for me and my audience if I spent the time talking about the book.

20-30:

The last group had the same response as the first group, that it would be easier for me to plan out part of the video to talk about the book and save the beginning and the end for introductions and goodbyes, so it would be more interesting for the audience if they knew who I was.

30-40:

Page 15: Graph Analysis

The next question I asked was whether they would prefer to see a variety of shots throughout my video and the majority of the group said that they would definitely prefer to see a vast variety of shots instead of a long shot, as it keeps the audience interpellatedmore than with one boring long shot.

15-20:

The next group had a similar response, except more people said no as they would prefer to focus on one shot more than a variety as it keeps them interested instead of seeing someone move about with more than one shot. This has told me that the 20-30 age group prefers to see one thing as it would keep them more interested.

20-30:

The last group all said that they would all prefer to see a variety of shots as it would keep the audience more interested if there was a variety as one shot would become boring very fast. In comparison to the previous two graphs this graph shows that all of the group had the same response therefore, it would be best for me to make my video have a mass variety of shots.

30-40:

Page 16: Graph Analysis

The last question that I asked was whether the age group liked my idea, or if they thought I could improve. The majority of the group said that they liked my idea, that it was well thought out and that it would be very appropriate to make an entire project based on it. The only person that said I could improve, suggested that I make the layout of the website a little different to help the people navigate properly. This has told me that my idea is very appropriate for the ages on 15-20.

The second group had a very similar response, they loved my idea and how I was going to develop it, but 2 people disliked it, and thought that I could improve and make it more interesting and appealing to people outside of what my target audience is. This has told me that this age group is also very appropriate for my idea.

The last group gave me the exact response the previous graph gave, that they mostly liked my idea but what I could improve on would be to make it more appealing to people that are book readers, change the colours slightly and it would make my idea much more suitable for the ages between 30 and 40.
