Application
The Granulex™ hammer mill has been designed for high
capacity grinding in various industries. Primarily applied in
the feed manufacturing industries for pre- and post-grinding
operations, it is also utilized for size reduction applications
in the biomass, oil milling and other food processing indus-
tries. The hammer mill masters to process a wide range of
raw materials, both in coarse and fine grinding applications.
Powerful grinding up to 75 t/h
Granulex™ was created with one thought in mind: to bring
maximum efficiency to high capacity grinding. The power-
ful 400-kW motor makes light work of process ing capaci-
ties of up to 75 t/h.*
Thanks to the machine’s large rotor diameter of 1500 mm,
the hammer tip-speed of 118 m/s is the highest of any
50-Hz hammer mill, resulting in superior particle granula-
tion in fine grind ing applications.

Minimum downtime thanks to fast and easy
maintenance
Granulex™ has been designed for maximum availability,
and to require a minimum number of operators. Whether
changing applications or servicing the machine, speed
and simplicity are the order of the day.
Sliding doors on both sides of the hammer mill allow for fast
and easy access to the grinding chamber. The double guided
sliding doors are smooth-running, and safety switches provide
maximum operator safety while the machine is in operation.
Subdivided into four parts, the screens can be easily
handled and replaced by one person only. The user-
friendly screen clamping mechanism allows for fast and
proper fastening of the screens.
The hammers are designed for replacement by a single
person in less than 30 minutes. This is made possible by
the intuitive ergonomic design and the following features:
– Short hammer bars which can be easily handled
by one person
– Rotor braking device arresting the rotor during
the hammer change
– Special change-over tool for the hammers, preventing
them from dropping into the grinding chamber
Large screen area for improved product discharge
The large screen area of 4 square meters improves the
product discharge out of the grinding chamber, reducing
the load of the hammer mill. This results in less wear of
the screens and hammers.

Hygienic design preventing dust settlements
The mill’s sturdy and rugged build is complemented by a
design of smooth, plain surfaces without rough edges. As
a consequence there are fewer places for dust to settle
and cleaning time is kept to a bare minimum. The closed
machine housing efficiently prevents dust settlements in
the motor chamber.
Hammer mill feeder
The hammer mill feeder supplies the product to the
grinding chamber at a continuous rate. The product is
uniformly distributed across the entire grinding chamber.
In combination with the automatic DFCQ throughput
controller (optional), the material may also be fed to the
mill as a function of the mill’s motor load. In this case,
the feed rate is adjusted by the electronically controlled
slide gate and the frequency-converter-controlled feeder
roll. The integrated gravity separator for eliminating
high-density particles and a permanent magnet remove
impuri ties such as stones or tramp iron. However, a
precleaning stage is required.
