APPLICATION FOR GRANTS The Vegetarian Charity Trustees consider applications for financial assistance from young vegetarians up to and including the age of 25 years for specific courses or projects or in cases of individual poverty . Parents can apply on behalf of vegetarian childre n but awards can only be made for items and projects specifically for thei r child. Each applica tion is considered on its merit and it is not possi ble to say in advance whether or not it will be successful. In the current economic climate post graduate applicatio ns will only be considered in exceptional ly difficult personal circumstances . The Charity also considers applications from organisatio ns promoting vegetariani sm. When considering applic ations the Trustees take into account efforts made by applican ts to improve their financial situation.  Any evidenc e of employment or e fforts made to find work (or conversely reasons why they have been unable to do so, such as medical certificates) MUST be included. This form should contain as much information as possible.  All boxes MUST be filled in (even if the answer is ‘none’), and even if the information has been given elsewhere in the application. When filling in financial details keep everything to either ALL weekly, monthly or annually Please completed in BLACK ink to ensure good photocopies can be made.  Our grants are made on an ann ual basis so figures should be for one year only. Any subseque nt years will need a later applicati on. The process of obtaining references and considering applications takes a minimum of three months so please apply in good time . Privacy PolicyThe Vegetarian Charity is an independent charity. This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information that we

collect about you when you submit an application for a grant or for attendance at the Vegan Venture cookery course.

What information will we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you submit an application for financial assistance or for attendance on the Vegan Venture

cookery course. The information that we collect may be of a sensitive nature. We require your consent for this, which is included

on our application forms.

We may also contact you to obtain feedback or complete a survey.

How will the information be used?

We collect information about you to decide whether we consider you eligible for financial assistance or for you to attend the

Vegan Venture cookery course, dependant on the application that you submit.

The charity Trustees are provided with a copy of the information that you submit, in order to decide whether or not you should be

awarded with a grant/place on the cookery course.

On receipt of your completed application, details of your Name, Address, Date of Birth, Date of Application, Reason for Application and Trustees’ Decision will be kept by the Grants Secretary for a period of two years. A copy of this information will

 be sent to you for your confirmation, to be signed by you as correct and returned to the Grants Secretary.

In certain circumstances we may request further information from you, your parent(s), guardian(s) or from people who you have

nominated as referees on your application. If you do not wish for us to request any further information, you can request us not to

do so on your application declaration.

We request that you provide us with as much information as possible. If you do not wish to provide certain information it will not

affect your application, however it will help us to reach an accurate decision if we are fully aware of your circumstances.

Access to your information and correction

You have a right to contact us to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all

whether you are eligible for a grant/cookery course attendance, based on your circumstances.

application process. If we transfer information to the Trustees electronically, we will ensure that it is also kept secure.

The Trustees having made their decision will immediately destroy their copies of your application papers. However, the

Grants Secretary has the discretion to defer the destruction of the original application papers for a maximum period of two years.

organisations mentioned and The Vegetarian Charity cannot be held responsible for any content within the organisations websites.
