Grand Canyon National Park

IS ONE OF THE LARGE NATURAL WONDERS OF THE WORLD AND IS APPROX 230 KMS OF LAS VEGAS

The Colorado River was the one who formed the canyon over millions of years, based on sediment accumulation. Later, the collision of tectonic plates increased sediment, thus forming a large plateau that sits at present between 2100 and 2700 meters above sea level.

The Canyon is located primarily in the state of Arizona, but its ramifications invade part of Utah and Nevada. His two headers, separated by 200 km. are the most visited.

The northern sector, called North Rim, is located at 2,400 meters above sea level, its access is located in a somewhat isolated, which can be reached by car or by plane, the nearest airport being Las Vegas, a 426 km . westward.The southern circuit or South Rim, has an average height of 2,100 meters. Your access presents no difficulties, many airlines reach several nearby airports and many routes converge on the area.Most people see the Grand Canyon from this tour but is closed to vehicular traffic from May to October, but there is a free shuttle bus that takes tourists to the scenic spots. The route east to Desert View is generally open and offers many vantage points.

• Another way to appreciate the magnitude of the Grand Canyon is to take a plane or helicopter leaving the airport near Tuyasan or take a mule ride into the canyon. There are half day trips and longer ones, stopping at night, but must make reservations several months in advance.

It is at the southern end where there are several hotels and restaurants, a service station, a supermarket, a laundry and several souvenir shops.
