Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal is proud to be the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.
The Hospital is a world-class centre of excellence, one of just 7 children’s hospitals in the UK equipped and able to offer specialist treatment and lifesaving care to over 100,000 sick and critically ill babies and children every year.
The sickest, most seriously ill children with conditions such as meningitis, septicaemia, or following cardiac and other complex surgery are cared for in the South West’s only dedicated Children’s Hospital.
A specialist team of doctors and nurses provide exceptional care to children from Bristol, Bath, the South West of England and South Wales.

Bristol Children’s Hospital’s pioneering work places it at the heart of nationally and internationally acclaimed research and cutting edge developments. From bone marrow donor transplants and childhood cancer, to cardiac surgery and diabetes.
Patients in the Bristol Children’s Hospital receive the very best care and treatment possible paid for by the NHS. However, the NHS alone does not fund all of the complex needs of a sick child in hospital.
Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal funds specialist diagnostic equipment including an MRI scanner and Life Support machines for the Intensive Care Unit to help save lives. The charity also helps to develop specialist medical treatments and services, such as the Ilizarov frames, pictured above, and The Bristol Buggy – a pioneering development which gives post-operative mobility to children who would otherwise remain bed-bound for weeks on end.

Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal has helped to transform facilities at Bristol Children’s Hospital by raising £18million to support sick children and their families.
The charity funds parent beds throughout the Children’s Hospital and a dedicated family accommodation unit close by so that parents can be close to their sick child in hospital.
The charity funds play, arts, music and entertainment programmes, which all form a vital part of a patient’s recovery and rehabilitation. Art workshops, dedicated music therapy sessions and extra-curricular school activities all provide opportunities for distraction and well-being for hospital patients.
