Predicate – what are they doing?
The angry dog chewed on his bone. For her birthday, the silly child is going
to Chuck E. Cheese. The flower is beautiful.
Subjects
Can be nouns or pronouns
MarySue wants a new iPod. The sloth is a hero. Her bought a cronut from the
street vendor.
Predicates = Verbs
Action verbs – read, jump, burp
State of being verbs – is, are, was, were, be, being, been
Helping verbs – work with the main verb to create a verb phrase
