FEEDBACK FROM PROGRESSIVE FARMERS
• Of the total 155 contact (and progressive) farmers interviewed, out of
which 145 farmers felt that the information sent through phone / mass
media (Press, radio, mainly TV) was very much useful in planning and
modifying the various agricultural and Horticulture activities such as,
• -Land prepration/Sowing operations/Transplanting Vegetable seedlings
• - Irrigation scheduling as per dry/wet spell
• - Plant protection measures against pest and disease occurrence forewarning
• - Harvesting of various crops
• - Transportation of produce and inputs.
The farmers response on the utility of weather based bulletins in
their daily activities are indicated as below:

The impact of weather forecast based agro advisory bulletins on the attitude of contact and progressive farmers (62) was assessed and given in the following table.

High rainfall forecast issued by the IMD during July 19, 2013 the information was given by the Technical Officer, AMFU, Bidar to JDA, Bidar
Inturn JDA, Bidar call for the press conference inviting all the local news papers Agroadviosry to be followed by the farmer to save the recently sown crops was provided by the Technical Officer in consultant with the experts of Agroadvisory board members, in that press conference to widely publish the information by all the news papers in kannada language
Agroadvisory displayed at ARS, KVK, JDA, ADA, Bidar noticed board Agroadvisory sent through email to Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA) of all taulkas of the dist. Voice SMS to all the 5000 registered farmers of the KVK, Bidar Phone calls to the selected progressive farmers
Modes of Dissemination of agroadvisory and high rainfall forecast issued by the IMD
Special advisory in view of high rainfall forecast Field crops • Drain out excess water from soybean greengram, blackgram, redgram and sugarcane fields by providing proper surface drainage • Take up spraying of 2 % urea or 19:19:19 NPK fertilizer @ 6g/litre after receipt of rainfall to control yellowing of leaves due to water logging
Animals Prevaling weather conditions are congenial for the occurrence of Footh and mouth disease in cattles To prevent, vaccinate the animals Keep animals indoor during the period

Economic Impact
The agroadvisory provided by the AMFU, Bidar during high rainfall forecast those who have not followed have lost almost 80% of the soybean, greengram and blackgram crop and those farmers who have follwed the agroadvisory have saved the crop against total failure

• Information regarding Weather awareness and weather based Agricultural operations to be carried out by the farmers is given during grand programme, Krishi Mela once in a year, organised by Raichur Agricultultural University at KVK/ARS, Bidar campus / UAS, Raichur
• Agro Advisory and forecast information is given in the Seed Mela (twice in a year) programme jointly organized by Agricultural Research Station / Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bidar & Raichur
