When considering suitability of pedestalcastings, the resultant effective radial loadmust be used. The effective radial load isthe resultant of net loads and appropriatedynamic factors, excluding speed and lifefactors.

SAFC Product Line

The Cooper pedestals have bolt hole centerdistances and base to bearing centerline heightsthat conform to industry standard SAFdimensions.

Cooper SAFC products are designed to replacecommon SAF 225 and 15 Series units usingadaptor sleeves.

The Cooper SAFC compatible pedestal isavailable for bearings with shaft sizes from 115/16˝(SAFC 511) to 5 15/16˝(SAFC 534).

The pedestals use standard Cooper 01E and 02 Series bearings and cartridges. This makespossible the use of the comprehensive range ofCooper sealing options suitable for almost any application.

The seals remain concentric to the shaft undermisalignment conditions and will retain lubricantand keep out foreign particles.

Two and four bolt configurations using 01E Medium Duty and 02 Heavy Dutybearings are available depending on shaft size.

The use of standard Cooper bearings andcartridges will cause the footprint area and total housing height to differ from compatibleSAF housings.

Pedestals are made from ductile iron.Temperature and vibration mounting points may be specified.

Pedestal Loads

The maximum safe radial load for a pedestalcasting is based on the bearing static rating Cor.Up to 85% of the full Cor rating can be appliedif the angle of the load falls within the shadedarea of the diagram shown.

If the load falls outside the shaded area or isgreater than 85% of Cor , please consult ourtechnical department.
