Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts Announces GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS Music Education Wind Instruments/Percussion Conducting (Orchestral/Band/Choir) String Instruments Piano/Accompanying Voice The Master of Music degree offers two concentrations to further prepare students for careers as educators and performers. Students choose an area of interest and apply for admission to be accepted into one of the concentration areas: Music Education or Performance. Graduate students have the opportunity to work closely with the graduate faculty with expertise in their area of specialization. The many fine ensembles provide students abundant performing opportunities. Graduate Assistantships Graduate Assistantships are awarded to students with regular admission status, based upon an interview/audition. Assistantships of up to $10,000 per year are funded through a stipend, tuition waiver, and/or additional Music scholarships. All graduate assistantships are based on a workload of 20 hours per week. The School of Creative and Performing Arts The Music program is a unit within the School of Creative and Performing Arts (designated by the Louisiana Board of Regents as a “Center of Excellence”) at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and offers the Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music (with concentrations in Performance as well as Sacred Music), and Master of Music degrees. Twenty full-time faculty members who are committed to excellence in teaching and performance serve more than 200 music majors. Northwestern State University’s Music program is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
