Cycle 1: This represents the percentage of students who passed the ELPAC and SBAC in 2017/18. This is the first opportunity for redesigantion and typically, we see a larger rate due to the larger pool of students who recently passed the ELPAC.

Cycle 2: This represents the percentage of students who passed the ELPAC in 2017/18 but did not redesignate during cycle 1. Students must have met an ELA assessment (i.e. BAS 1, DRP, Interim 1 and PSAT) during cycle 2 to be eligible for redesignation. Students who did not pass the ELPAC have to wait until May of 2018/19, so we expect the pool of eligible students to remain low.

The purpose o his communication is to provide the Board information regarding the second interim. The Interim II window closed last week, and the majority of the results are readily available to site and district leaders. Third through twelfth grades have their second interim results and reports. However, due to technical difficulties with our scanning machine, results for first and second grades will be postponed pending external vendor service.

The Board Communication scheduled for February 15, 2019 will be delayed until the issue is resolved.

If you have further questions or require additional information, please contact Lindsay Sanders at (559) 457-34 71.

    BOARD COMMUNICATION

    BC Number: EA - 1.

From the Office of the Superintendent Date: Febmary 15, 2019

    Phone Number: 457-3471

The purpose £ this communication is to provide the Board information regarding the Assessment Co mittee and Assessment Calendar for 2019/20. The Assessment Committee was recently reorganized under Equity and Access, with representatives from each department, teachers, and site administrators. The Assessment Committee is a steering committee toward ensuring stakeholder voices are present in understanding, developing, and maintaining a districtaligned assessment system. The objective is to ensure instmctional time is preserved by our district assessment commitments, provide a complimentary and aligned system of assessments that articulate formative and summative data points for student, parent/guardian, and staff use and understanding, and protect site funds from assessment expenditures meant to reside in district office budgets toward more impactful and direct-to-student site budgeting.

The newly organized Assessment Committee held their first kickoff meeting on Thursday, December 6, 2018. During this meeting, stakeholders collaborated to identify the components of assessment and data literacy that would be foundational to the future work of the Committee. Stakeholders also collaborated to identify and discuss baseline assessment elements. The product of this first meeting is a district-wide assessment mbric meant to calibrate assessments within our system (see attached). The Assessment Committee is currently utilizing the assessment mbric to analyze assessments throughout the system. Findings will be shared and discussed at the next Assessment Committee meeting at the end ofFebmary.

Additionally, attached is the current Assessment Calendar 2019/20. As noted on the calendar, as the Assessment Committee meets to calibrate and engage in strategic collaborative decisionmaking, this calendar and/or the assessments within it may be revised to meet the objectives stated above. The testing windows for state and national tests are mandated, while district-wide assessment windows are backwards mapped within our department and sites are provided with a 2- to 4-week window (varies by assessment) to select the date(s) that they prefer to test on. In addition, professional learning is provided to site testing coordinators to ensure best common

practices are implemented during test administration.

If you have questions or require additional information, please contact Lindsay Sanders at 457-3471.
