Aleppo is a city in the north of Syria. Part of it is very old but many people live in modern
flats. There are a lot of things to do here. You can visit the cas tle; which is called the Citadel
of Aleppo. It was built in 1209 with some parts of the citadel many years older. It is a very
famous monument.
You can also go to the shops where you can buy gold and silver and beautiful boxes. You
can also buy special olive oil soap.There are some very nice res taurants too, where you can
eat delicious sweets. But if you want to take a walk or sit down and relax, the Public Park
may be the place for you!

In 2006, scientis ts found the body of an ancient camel when they were digging in a dry
river. They were digging in the desert because they were s tudying the his tory of El Kowm,
an old town which is 240 kilometres from Damascus, near Palmyra.
Modern camels are about two meters tall but these ancient camels were huge. They were
