I. Novel: A Wrinkle in Time

● Introduction to the elements of literature

IV. Non – Fiction Unit: Advertising Exploring the language of advertising

Look at a number of specific advertising techniques

Students will learn how to create a storyboard for an original

advertisement

V. Novel: The Giver Identify elements of Dystopian literature

Be able to write about the analysis of a story using textual evidence

to back up their claims

Analyze how an author develops and contrasts the points of view

of different characters or narrators in a text

VI. Persuasive Writing Introduce claims and organize the reasons and evidence clearly

Support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

Using credible sources and demonstrating and understanding to the

topic or text.

Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising,

editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach

*Course will include instruction on reading comprehension, writing, research and presentation skill development as part of regular course content.

I. Hangul ( Korean Alphabet) Unit

An introduction of

- History of Hangul

- Appearance of Hangul

- Structure of Hangul

- Pronunciation of Hangul

Students will learn by the end of Grade 6

- Perform greetings and common classroom interactions using culturally

appropriate gestures and oral expressions.

- Give and follow simple instructions as part of age-appropriate

classroom or cultural activities or both.

- Ask and answer questions about familiar topics such as school events,

celebrations, personal opinions, and family, orally and in guided

writing.

Language is a year round project so students will continually learn

conversational expressions.

II. Geography Unit

An introduction to where in the world is Korea?

Students will learn general geographical features and weather.

III. History Unit

An introduction to the timeline of Korean history and how painful is

the history of Korea, yet there have been some great triumphs.

Students will learn important historical events chronologically.

IV. The Korean War Unit

Spanning three years, the Korean War was perhaps the most divisive

conflict in Korean History.

Students will learn the historical value of the Korean War and how

this ended up having two Koreas in the Korean peninsula.

Ⅴ. The Arts Unit

Students will learn briefly how simple and beautiful Korean art is, and

will have a chance to perform simple activities such as paper art,

calligraphy, playing traditional musical instruments etc.

Ⅵ. The Culture and Customs Unit

Students will learn Korean culture thru various means including art,

music, and traditions.

Students will learn Korean holidays and learn culture thru the spirit

and value of each holiday.

Students will learn about Korean schools, K-pop music.

Ⅶ. Korean Food Unit

Kimchi ? Bul-gogi ? or Spicy Hot ? There is a lot more to learn about

Korean Food.

Students will learn more about Korean food and have some cooking

lessons.
