• Knowledge of Christ's work is not permission to shameothers for not being in the same place

• We are called to do what is loving for the mutual edification

of each other1 Corinthians 8:9 - But take care that this freedom of yoursdoes not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.

• Our behavior should not cause others to fall back into sin

1 Corinthians 8:11-12 - And so by your knowledge this weak

person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. Thus,sinning against your brothers and wounding their consciencewhen it is weak, you sin against Christ.




grace brings all kinds people together for a comm

cau1 Corinthians 12

• Each person is blessed in such a way to make Christ known

1 Corinthians 12:7 - To each is given the manifestation of theSpirit for the common good.

• The cause of Christ is what holds the Church together1 Corinthians 12:13 - For in one Spirit we were all baptizedinto one body—Jews or Greeks, slavest or free—and all weremade to drink of one Spirit.

• No one is deficient (v 14-17)

• No one is better (v 21-25)

• When one suffers, we all suffer (v 26)




grace allows us to forgive receive each othePhilemon

• The hard part about loving people is that they aren't perfect

• The great part about a Christian's sin against us is thatChrist paid for it

Philemon 1:17-20 - So if you consider me your partner,receive him as you would receive me. If he has wronged you atall, or owes you anything, charge that to my account. I, Paul, writethis with my own hand: I will repay it—to say nothing of your

owing me even your own self. Yes, brother, I want some benefitfrom you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in Christ.

•There is great benefit and refreshment to be had by the Churchwhen we forgive the least and the greatest sins committed against us




grace allows us to work ouconflict amongst ourselve

1 Corinthians 6• Commonly this is referred to in the cases of actual law

suits, however there are several principles we can take outof this scenario:

1 Corinthians 6:2 - Or do you not know that the saints will judge theworld? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent totry trivial cases?

• We are able to resolve matters amongst ourselves

1 Corinthians 6:5-6 - I say this to your shame. Can it be that there isno one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers,but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers?

• We are able to trust the judgement of fellow believers when wearen't able to resolve matters one-on-one




grace allows us to work ouconflict amongst ourselve

1 Corinthians 6

1 Corinthians 6:6-7a - Brother goes to law against brother, and thatbefore unbelievers? To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a

defeat for you.

• We are presently defeated by our own pride when we hold pettygrudges or don't work out conflict with each other

1 Corinthians 6:7b-8 - Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not ratherbe defrauded? But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your ownbrothers!

• It is far better to admit defeat for the sake of building another up




practical applicatio

• Commit yourself to loving God and the Church

Luke 10:27 - And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God withall your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with allyour mind, and your neighbor as yourself."

Ephesians 4:1-6 - I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you towalk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have beencalled, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with oneanother in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the

one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, oneGod and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.





• Commit yourself to spending time with the saints

Hebrews 10:24-25 - And let us consider how to stir up one anotherto love and good works,25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habitof some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the

Day drawing near.

• Commit yourself to praying for and with others

Matthew 18:19 - Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth aboutanything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.





• Commit yourself to helping shoulder the responsibility of the Chur

Exodus 17:12 - But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone andput it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands,one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were

steady until the going down of the sun.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 - Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with yourmight, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol,to which you are going.
