Writing Tasks- Task 1

Look closely at this picture and write a description of the setting. Here is an

example:

I am standing on the beach. The bright blue sea is sparkling beautifully in the

dazzling, golden sunshine. The waves are rolling and moving gently and quietly

as they glide towards the soft, warm sand. I can taste the sea salt in the air

and hear the waves rumbling towards me.

Use expanded noun phrases to make your writing really interesting. Use the

conjunctions and adjectives from the Word Bank beneath Task 2 to help

you.

Task 2

Write a story about being on the beach in the picture above. Think about how

you got there, why you are there and all of the adventures that you can have

with your friends there. Include a beginning, middle and end, a description of

your characters and of the setting (you can use your setting description from

above).

First person words Conjunctions Adjectives

I, me, my, we, our. Because, and, but, if, so,

or.

Lovely, amazing, wonderful, warm water,

beautiful, sparkling sea, crystal-clear sea,

golden sunshine, rumbling waves, deserted

beach, high cliffs, towering palm trees.
