DESCRIPTION

This is a study extracted from Eco-Gowanus: Urban Remediation by Design, 2007 Richard Plunz & Patricia Culligan editors, with work by Columbia University students. It reviews historical Sanborn Maps of the Gowanus Canal from 1893 to 1942, and assigns industrial pollutant profiles to historic land uses. The mapped dispersion plumes are only potential and speculative, and should be viewed in conjunction with the EPAs 2011 Gowanus Canal Remediation Investigation.
