Governor DeSantis Signs SB 292Last Friday, Governor DeSantis signed Senate Bill 292 into law. SB292 amends Florida Statutes, creating a framework that allowsconsumers to request loss runs and requires carriers to provide theinformation within 15 days. While the bill has been signed by thegovernor, it doesn’t actually take effect until January 1, 2021.

Citizens' Board of Governors held a teleconference yesterday, June24. I wanted to highlight a couple of items that Barry Gilway, Citizens'CEO, and Jennifer Montero, Citizens' CFO, updated the board on. Barry Gilway provided an update to the board on the current marketconditions of the Florida property market and how Citizens isforecasting growth to their policy count. In 2012, Citizens had over$512 billion in exposure with a 25-percent market share of theproperty market in Florida. Today, they have reduced that exposure to$119 billion with a four percent (4%) market share. The assessmentpotential from just eight years ago has gone from $11.6 billion in theevent of a 1–100 year event to zero today.
