• Mentor High School Students• “Pre-Build Season” – NOW• “Build Season” Jan 4 – Feb 15• Robot Ship Date Feb 21 @ 10:00 am (?)• Competitions (Tentative)

• Program centered around an intense 6 – week period called “The Build Season”– At kick-off Jan 7, 2012, the “game” or challenge for

this year’s build season will be revealed– 6 weeks to design, fabricate, program and test a

robot– Game changes every year; no components,

software, or custom parts may be reused

What you Should Expect

• The team is managed and run entirely by college students

• Participating is a serious commitment• We have a budget of $55,000 a year ̴

– Mentors come from all departments and have different experience levels and skills

– Everyone will get the chance to contribute and learn

– This can be the hardest fun you’ve ever had– You will get out what you put in

What you Should Expect

• Build professional-grade robots• 20+ hours a week, even 40+ during build

season• Learn things you can’t learn in class• The most intense engineering experience• Make a lot of quality friends• Travel

Team Etiquette

• Things that will not be tolerated:– Immature/inappropriate behavior– Poor role modeling– Disregard for your or other’s safety– Lack of commitment– Poor team players

• Things that will not be tolerated:– Subversion, leadership reserves the right to make

critical team decisions– Do not give conflicting information to the team,

always defer important questions to the team leadership

– Treat all mentors and students with respect. Period.

– “Don’t fight in front of the students”
