Do whatever you have to do – book a plane, charter a bus, rent a car, make your hotel reservations – but don’t you dare miss the most anticipated event this year in Southern Gospel music – The Cathedrals Family Reunion!

Tickets are on sale now for this historic event and they’re going fast as Cathedral friends from all over the country are making their plans for November 8-9, 2013 at the MacGorman Performing Arts Center in Fort Worth, TX.

There’s an elite list of artists who have left an indelible mark on Gospel music and The Cathedrals sit at the top of that list! One of the most popular groups of all time, the legacy of George Younce, Glen Payne and the Cathedral Quartet is still being felt today through the legacy that artists are carrying on.

Ever feel like you missed out on something in history – like The Beatles or Elvis? That’s the same feeling so many have about The Cathedrals. This weekend of fun, memories and music will bring a little bit of that “magic” back!

It’s been 14 years after the group’s final concert and the anticipation is high as fans, friends and artists make their plans.

Promoter Landon Beene of IMC Concerts and Brian Hudson of Showcase Management are heading up the promotions, doing much of the legwork, and producing this landmark event.“Before I was a promoter, I was a fan,” says Beene. “In fact, I’m still a fan. As a young kid, my father would drive us to Cathedral concerts promoted by Polly Grimes in Freemont, California, a 10-hour round trip for us.

“The day I moved to Tennessee was the day Glen passed away [Oct. 15, 1999]. Since that time, I’ve always wondered why these artists did not perform together in a reunion environment but now it’s time to put these guys together!”

For Scott Fowler, Danny Funderburk, Ernie Haase, Mark Trammell, and Gerald Wolfe, this

is a definite reunion—the first time all five will assemble together to sing songs, swap stories, and share memories, both with each other and the fans expected to attend this weekend of all things Cathedrals.

Haase says that while each man has been busy making his own music, this moment in time seems like the perfect opportunity. “When you leave a group and try to do something on your own, you have to make your own mark. Thank God we’ve all had a wonderful platform from which to launch our personal musical careers. Each of us is out there doing what George and Glen taught us to do. But for me personally, I would think about how we’d see each other at, say, a funeral for Roger Bennett or Anthony Burger or a benefit for Tracy Stuffle. And it really got to where we were doing those types of ‘serious’ things often, but we never ever got together when we could actually ‘enjoy’ it.”Wolfe agrees: “Landon was the first person to mention it to me. It’s something we’ve all talked about for several years, but I’m not sure any of us thought it would ever really happen.”With the memories, songs, stories, and emotions that will no doubt be shared during this reunion, with the event itself comes the anticipation of just what this weekend will hold. Fowler hopes the greatness of George and Glen will shine at the Cathedrals Family Reunion.

“I want everyone to remember with fondness how great George and Glen were,” he says. “I want everyone to enjoy a stroll down ‘memory lane,’ and remember how great The Cathedrals’ music was. I want everyone to reminisce about how George and Glen brought them all such great times for decades. I want us all to be thankful to God for the legacy The Cathedrals left us and for the influence they have had in the lives of Legacy Five, Greater Vision, Mark Trammell Quartet, Danny Funderburk, and Ernie Haase & Signature Sound.”

Trammell is excited to showcase the legacy and memories the Cathedrals left in gospel music.“I think this is going to be a wonderful time for all the fans and friends of The Cathedral

Quartet to relive some precious days and great memories in all of our lives.”

It is those memories that Wolfe expects the weekend to highlight such a unique, talented, and once-in-a-lifetime quartet.

“Without sounding too sentimental, I’d say we want to communicate that there was something special about The Cathedral Quartet that will never be duplicated. Each combination of personnel brought their unique personalities to the platform, but the unique partnership of Glen and George was the ‘magic,’ if you will, that made it work. I expect there will be lots of laughs and probably tears as each session brings back each person’s memories of what we feel like was the greatest Gospel quartet in our genre’s history.”

And it’s that greatness that Haase is so proud of and thankful for. “I can only attribute that to the love, respect, integrity, and character of George and Glen and how they took care of business all those years.”

Wolfe added: “I doubt you would ever attend one of any of our concerts without hearing the names Glen Payne or George Younce mentioned at least once during the program. These men made such indelible marks on our lives, we would be doing their memory a disservice if we didn’t acknowledge them every chance we get. There’s no way what we are doing could ever measure up to the high standard they set, but we try.”

“The truth is no one who comes to hear us would have ever heard of us if it hadn’t been for The Cathedrals. We are forever indebted to Glen and George.”

Fowler agrees and says he learned so much from the both them. “They taught me honesty and integrity. Their good name and reputation was very valuable to them. They knew in order to influence people for the cause of Christ, they had to be above reproach and had to live moral, ethical lives.”

Wolfe relates the precious time he spent with Glen and George to a family vacation with his grandparents.

“We’re not kidding when we say traveling with them was like being on a trip with your grandpa,” Wolfe joked. “Those two guys reinforced life lessons our parents taught us, though. A few of the things they insisted on were simple, but profound things like ‘always look your best,’ ‘treat people on the other side of the product table the way you would want to be treated,’ ‘pay your bills on time or earlier,’ ‘if you tell somebody you’ll do something, do it.’ Those are just a few of the truths those guys lived by that made them such great examples for us.”It was that example that stands out to Haase.

“There were so many life lessons they taught me,” he says. “Things like ‘leave the building the way you found it’ may not mean much to some people, but to them, it was important to respect others’ property. But the most poignant thing I learned from them was ‘show up every night.’ They ‘showed up’ every night. And by that I mean they were not just there physically but they were engaged and treated people well and were fully into the entire performance and every aspect of that evening from start to finish. The crowd might have been small, the promoter may have been difficult to deal with, there could have been someone in their family sick or who passed away, or they could have physically not felt well, but I never saw them not ‘show up.’ They would say, ‘People didn’t come to hear our excuses, or sad news, or to be depressed. They came to be lifted up.’ And that’s what they did every night.”

There’s no denying that George Younce and Glen Payne WERE the heartbeat and lifeblood of The Cathedrals and have no fear, they will be at this event! Through some very special moments and technology, George and Glen, will be there. “It was very important to me to make sure that Mr. Younce and Mr. Payne were represented in a classy, honoring way,” states Beene. “We’ve been working on some very

special things – including some video footage that no one has ever seen – to use for this special weekend.”As if this reunion weren’t enough to excite Cathedrals fans, these five are hard at work on a new CD to be released on Stowtown Records at the reunion, produced by Wayne Haun, Haase, Beene, and Wolfe. There’s also a museum of sorts in the works to be on display at the reunion, including the bus the group used to tour.

“Landon and Brian have worked hard to make this Fort Worth event something really special and unique,” explained Wolfe.

It will be a special atmosphere in Forth Worth and Fowler understands the history that will make this such a memorable event.

“I was hooked as a fan from the very first Cathedrals concert I attended at age 15,” says Scott, “so I know what this event will mean for me as a fan and as a Cathedral, but I also think that a new generation of Gospel music lovers who have only ‘heard’ about The Cathedrals will be there as well. This will be their first chance to get a piece of the group’s history firsthand.”

Haase hopes that this event will be more than just a concert or a time of looking back, although he knows that’s a big part of it and is looking forward to it for those reasons. “For all we know it’s going to be…well, I pray this weekend also becomes the catalyst for a great revival, a fresh wind in Gospel music. It’s something new that’s never happened before, and I hope that we can build on it to create even more excitement about the music that we all love so much. I’m honored to record and sing with the men I will be on stage with that weekend. We all could go into the Fort Worth area with our individual ministries and do well, but I think we’ve all seen the greater benefit of coming together for this special time and I am excited about seeing what great things will happen from it.”

Funderburk says he’s excited to help give something back to the people who have meant so very much to The Cathedrals for so many years.

“George and Glen had a sincerity and compassion about them and I think you will see that in the fans that come out to this event. The people that supported the group did so because of what they saw in George and Glen, and I think that this is going to be as much a thank you to the fans as anything.

“I also think it will be a time to reiterate the philosophy that The Cathedrals were family. George and Glen were our bosses but they respected us, because they truly lived and believed that if it weren’t for God, none of us would have been in that group enjoying the blessings.”

While they’ve all attempted to put into words what this reunion will mean, nothing will have prepared them for that actual moment when they join together and share this weekend with each other and their fans. But the reason for the gathering is very clear.

“The music and the songs were great, but I believe it is much deeper than that,” concludes Fowler. “Lots of great songs and lots of great singers have come and gone and are barely remembered. But The Cathedrals invested in people’s lives. They were more than just ‘another Gospel group.’ We loved people and loved music and we were dedicated to telling folks that Jesus was right for whatever was wrong in their lives. The Cathedrals’ legacy lives because they touched the lives of so many people in such a personal way.

For most people, Summer brings vacation plans, outdoor activities, and a somewhat slower pace. For Gospel Artists, however, Summer brings outdoor concerts, Annual events, recording sessions, and sometimes, a short break. Since Greater Vision took a short break from traveling in June, we’re going to “hit the ground running” this Summer, with a full schedule of activities that’ll keep us moving from July through September.

The Gatlinburg Gathering will be the first stop on our July schedule, which is great… since it’s only 50 miles from home. Then, a full one-third of July we’ll be on the In Touch Alaska Cruise,. Greater Vision has been doing the Alaska Cruise with Dr. Charles Stanley since 1991. We never get tired of the majestic scenery in Alaska, and many of our family members go with us, which is an added bonus. The rest of the month, you’ll be able to find us singing in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri.

Late in July, we’ll begin working on the highly-anticipated “Cathedrals

Family Reunion” CD! The big CFR event, coming up in Ft. Worth, Texas in November, is one of the most-talked about events in Gospel Music this year, and this new recording will be released there. It will feature Cathedrals’ Alumni, Danny Funderburk, Scott Fowler, Ernie Haase, Mark Trammell, and myself, along with the members of Greater Vision, Legacy Five, Mark Trammell Quartet, and Signature Sound Quartet. It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime recording!

In August, we’ll do our 23rd Annual “Evening With Greater Vision” concert in Temple, Texas. It’s always one of our favorite dates on the calendar. Later in the month, we’ll start working on some new material for this year’s “Jubilee Christmas” Tour . Yes… Christmas! Lari Goss is arranging some new A’ Cappella tunes for us, so we have to start early to learn them in time for the Christmas Tour! Our Concert Schedule for August will take us to Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, and Alabama. We’ll be covering some miles in August!

September will wrap-up our Summer Schedule, but we won’t be slowing down! The biggest Annual Event in Gospel Music happens in September…The National Quartet Convention! This year will be the NQC’s last year in Louisville, Kentucky, before moving to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in 2014, and they’re pulling out all the stops to make it one of the best NQCs ever! We also have three “Jubilee! Tour” dates in August, with the Booth Brothers and Legacy Five.

One of the highlights of September will be “An Evening Of Gospel Music with Dr. Charles Stanley & Friends” in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday September 22. Dr. Stanley loves Gospel Music, and he’s celebrating his 81st Birthday by hosting a big Gospel concert at First Baptist Church of Atlanta! We’ll be there, along with our friends, the Collingsworth Family, Booth Brothers, and Triumphant Quartet.

At first glance, the title of this article seems out of place, especially in the middle of Summer, but even though it’s Summertime, plans are already well underway for this year’s Jubilee Christmas Tour! Last year, most of the Jubilee Christmas concerts were completely sold-out, and requests came in from all over the country for additional stops on the Tour, but the Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, and Legacy Five didn’t know how popular the concerts would be, and didn’t have additional dates available to add to the calendar. The Internet and Social Media outlets, including Facebook and Twitter, were all “abuzz” about the concerts, in every city the Tour stopped. This year, because of the Tour’s popularity and demand, the number of Jubilee Christmas concerts will be doubled, from seven to fourteen. Concerts are already confirmed in ten states, from the Heartland, to the Northwest, to the West Coast, to the Southwest, to the South, and back to the Midwest. The Tour will cover more than seven thousand miles during its two-week run, and will not only involve the eleven men on the platform, but also a complete Production

Crew, for lighting, sound, and multi-media support. IMC Concerts and Showcase Media will once again team up to promote the Tour.

Already this Summer, the Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, and Legacy Five, have been working on the program for this year’s Tour, to make it even better than last year’s. That’s a tall order, considering the overwhelming response to last year’s concerts. In an effort to add even more variety to the program, the “Jubilee Gang” is working with Grammy-award-winning Producer, Lari Goss, on five unique A’ Cappella Christmas arrangements. They will also be recording five additional songs, which will give them even more great music to choose from this year, making the two-hour program better than ever. Don’t worry… all the favorite parts of the program you’ve experienced or heard about, will still be included! The now-famous “saxophone solo,” “Almost-Elvis,” and “red-neck snow machine” are just a few of the “show-stoppers” people are still talking about, that will still be a part of this year’s program!

The nation-wide promotion for the 2013 Jubilee Christmas Tour will kick-off this Fall with the release of the “Jubilee Christmas” live-concert DVD! In addition to the live-concert DVD, a new “On The Road with The Jubilee Tour” DVD will be released. It’s a behind-the-scenes look into what it takes to make The Jubilee Tour happen, along with all the laughs that happen before and after the concerts. The DVD will be a “must-have” for people who love to laugh along with the guys who make up the “Jubilee Gang.” There will also be a second CD release, featuring the ten new songs recorded for this year’s Tour.

The 2013 Jubilee Christmas Tour will include concerts in Kansas, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday September 3, and are expected to go fast. Special seating packages will be available for Church Groups.

It seems that time flies faster each day. As we watch the clock or see life whisking by, one thing is sure for Christians, we need to heed the time and share the good news in this 11th hour.

That is the heart and the life calling of emerging Gospel group 11th HOUR. They aren’t wasting a minute reaching the lost and encouraging fellow believers through their beautiful and powerful music.

The vocal trio began their ministry just six years ago and, in that short time, they have been overwhelmed with the doors GOD has opened. Already celebrating HIT songs like “Adam’s Fall,” “Steppin’ Out” (which reached TOP 10 on the Singing News charts), and their current fast-rising single, “Room With A View” (already at #15 at the time of this article and sailing upward), Amber Eppinette, along with Candice Jordan, and Grant Gibson haven’t lost track of the time they are in or the reason they sing. Through their songs, most of which are written by Amber, their first and foremost desire is to tell people about Jesus.

This year they will celebrate a debut appearance on the coveted National Quartet Convention Stage. Amber expresses, “I never would have thought 11th Hour would be privileged to do something as big as NQC. All I can say is, we are flattered and overjoyed. At the same time, we must remember, even though it’s a big stage with the lights and the whole package, there are souls that will be in that building. I pray that we, along with the other groups, do there what we do in the churches and minister.”

The group calls Crossroads their label home. The latest recording, STEPPIN’ OUT, is their debut recording with this top record label. Additionally, this powerhouse trio is represented by the Adoration Agency, in the area of scheduling. And, last, but definitely not least, they are a part of the wonderful ministry of Compassion Intl, helping release children around the world from physical and spiritual poverty, in Jesus’ name.

While times marches on for a world in need of Jesus, you can find 11th HOUR using each moment for HIS glory.

To schedule them for your Gospel music event or church service, visit the Adoration Agency, at www.adorationagency.com.

Q. How was your first experience on stage?Josh: “One of my first times to play was at NQC-- I was so nervous, my right foot wouldn’t stay on the sustain pedal. I played the whole set with my foot jittering up and down.”Kim: “I got so nervous, I pulled my dress up over my head. Hoping if I can’t see them, they can’t see me. Unlike Josh, I was 5.”

Q. Well hey, Josh. Not a lot of people know your story. What sparked your interest in gospel music?Josh: “My dad and grandfather both sang locally around Alabama when I was growing up. I heard it all, and eventually found myself loading the Kingsmen onto my first generation iPod. Natural progression.

Q. When you were living at home, what’s the last thing you remember getting into trouble for?Mike: “I think that was driving the lawn mower to the golf course. It’s a really long story.”Josh: “My parents built a new house when I was in high school and had a glass shower door installed in my bathroom. ....I shot it with a BB gun and shattered the whole thing. They took my gun away.”

Q. Speaking of guns, do you own one?Kim: “Yes. I wore my rhinestone jeans into a Gander Mountain and bought it myself.

Q. I’m sure many a male feared you. So when were you the most afraid?Kim: “When a curve appeared out of nowhere, coming down a mountain. That’s the night that me, my friend and car went over a 75foot embankment. We really shouldn’t be alive. Definitely a God thing.”Claude: “When another baby would be born, Dad would send us through the woods to my grandmother’s house to spend the night. It wasn’t very far, but the dark trees always seemed particularly scary on those nights.”

Q. Making a 180, when are you the happiest?Josh: “I am the happiest when people buy my CD.” *chokes on Gatorade* “Wait, can I change my answer?! When Alabama wins a football game!”Kim: “When I’m home, cooking dinner and being a typical housewife/mom.”Mike: “Like everyone who’s a roadie for a living, there’s something peaceful about being at home. But, as an adventurer, I love going overseas to the Far East. Okay okay, and when I’m drumming.”

Q. Who do you consider your greatest influence?Claude: “Too many to call ‘em each by name. I think Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Og Mandino ..many writers and positive thinkers that I’ve never met. I have gleaned from a lot of self help and improvement books.”Kim: “My grandmother with her soft-spoken, peaceful presence and faith. She never seemed to be troubled; her ways amazed me. ...My husband taught me to take one day at a time, keep my positivity and don’t sweat the small stuff.Connie: “My parents lived by the Golden Rule, teaching us to keep our word and live out our responsibilities. Musically, I didn’t know anything about gospel music, but Claude introduced me to the Speer family

early on. Their presentation and spirituality definitely impacted my life. I learned that our genre was a means to an end, the music was moving but ultimately it enabled us to point people to Christ.”

Q. You’ve recently released your GMA Hall of Fame induction DVD, what went through your mind when you first learned you were being inducted? Dean: “Well, the GMA called me first by mistake, but I kept it a secret until the official announcement was made. I wanted Mom and Dad to hear it straight from the board. The first thing I thought was how proud I was of our entire family. That those many years of riding the bus, arranging songs, dragging product across the country... just how happy I was for my dad that all his time of serving God and the people of this industry-- they were going to recognize it.

Q. How about hobbies?Dean: “I can answer that...Work.”Connie: “Through the years I’ve collected vintage songbooks and gospel recordings. I’ve always loved getting artwork from the places I’ve traveled, too.”

Q. Last but not least, have you ever heard of Justin Beiber?Claude: “That’s like a tv show, ain’t it? With the real beavers?”

We have a lot of folks working behind the scenes that allow us to enjoy the journey. What we do would be a lot harder if it weren’t for these vital people. We want to introduce them to you in no particular order as they are very sensitive on who gets mentioned first.

Blake McAllister is our sound engineer. He is 18 yrs old and newly married. Yes, I said 18 and just married. He and Jenny live in Georgia. Blake has a passion for running sound and he wants to make us sound as good as possible (which is hard to do sometimes). Triumphant is veryblessed to have Blake on the Triumphant Team.

Jesse Lunsford is our driver. Jesse is a former policeman but has been driving buses for the last 12 years. All the various artists that Jesse has driven for love his driving. They all think Jesse is the best driver ever. Jesse agrees with

them. Ha! We hope Jesse will be a part of Triumphant for a long time. Oh yeah, and Clayton really loves Jesse because Jesse is a huge bluegrass fan.

Michael Davis with Michael Davis & Associates is responsible for keeping us busy. We have worked with Michael since the beginning and we not only have a great working relationship but he has become a close friend. He and is wife Martha live in Waynesville, NC. Thanks Michael for all you do!

Shari Pickel is our office manager. Shari has been with us from the beginning as well as Michael and they both represent Triumphant in a very professional way. Shari was an event and marriage planner before working with us so she is great at telling us what to do and when to do it. Thanks Shari for remembering what we forget and always tying up the loose ends we leave hanging. We love you!!!

JOY THAT REMAINSBy: Tim LovelaceTim Lovelace

As a comedian, my job description centers around laughter. As a Christian, my life centers around the joy of serving Christ. Laughter and joy are related, yet so different.

I was very bashful as a small child, but in elementary school I discovered that if I could make other children laugh, the pressure was off of me. So, I started doing antics and telling stories that made my classmates and teachers laugh, hoping the teachers would remember the stories when they were grading my tests...that never worked!

In middle school and high school the ‘class clown’ title continued, and although I loved music and being in the school band, hearing my classmates laugh was pure music to my ears. I was

beginning to comprehend that I was wired differently than most, or maybe there were just a few loose wires. Nonetheless, as long as friends were laughing, that was meaningful to me on a deep level.

Then something happened to me on a much deeper level that not only changed my view of comedy but also changed my view of everything--I met Christ. I had been in church and attended gospel concerts, but religion was not the answer...Jesus was and is the ultimate answer for our every need and purpose in life. I now had a purpose behind the comedy.

Laughter is awesome. A good, clean joke or story can cause a crowd to laugh and temporarily forget about the stress

they may be under. The medical field has proven that laughter is healthy for us. When laughing, we are helping the heart, lungs, immune system, etc. Many of you already know that a good belly laugh releases endorphins in your brain. In my brain it’s dolphins that are released, but that’s another story altogether. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.”

What about those days when we don’t feel like laughing at all and the hurt is so deep that we can hardly smile? Jesus knew we would have days like that, and that is why in John 15:11 He told His disciples, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” It is exciting to know that the joy of the Lord is our strength! It is not only thrilling to know that we can have peace that passes all understanding, even in the midst of problems, but to also know that Jesus wants us to pass His joy along to others.

I am overjoyed that at IMC concerts and events I not only can share laughter, but I can also share my heart. The IMC staff and I share a common belief that in this crazy world we all need laughter...and joy that remains!

As I travel each day I pass a farmer’s house. I blow my horn and smile and wave. He always waves back. Sitting under a shade tree, relaxing, he always has time for a friendly wave. It seems to me that he is watching his garden. Why wouldn’t he? In weeks prior, he has worked so hard. He has tilled the soil and planted the seed. His energy and resources have been put to use once more. He is invested, to say the least.

But he waits. He waits on the land to do what he cannot do. He waits on the seed to bring forth what he cannot produce. He waits on the rain and sun to nourish those seedlings. Ah, calmly he waits.

The old farmer knows this universal truth: “You can’t hurry the harvest!”

Only God knows how the crops will turn out this year for the old farmer. The farmer has seen both good and not so good crops over the years. But still he plants, trusting the land to yield its gift once more. Yes, he waits for when the picking is good.

You know, we could learn a lot from that old farmer. We, too, plant our seeds of faith in prayer and ask the Lord of the Harvest for many things: a touch of healing for a friend, a blessing for our business, a new opportunity - whatever the case may be. But unlike the old farmer, we want the answer NOW. But as the farmer knows and shows us all, you just can’t hurry the harvest. It doesn’t work that way.

We are in God’s garden of grace. He cares deeply about how we grow. He is invested. He shed His own blood, gave His own life for you and for me so that we could grow into His likeness. He knows how long we need to be in the ground. All of our dreams and hopes need the nourishment of troubles, trails and hardships. Growth never comes easy. He longs for mature children that can stand the storms of life because they are fully rooted in Him.

Remember, you cannot hurry the harvest. God is not concerned with time like we are. However, He is very concerned about timing. Relax and trust the Master. Wait on Him. Renew your strength. Harvest will come and it will be “Mmm, Mmm Good!

Remember these precious words from Psalm 27-14“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”

THE pOWER OF HIS SONgBy: Jim Brady Jim Brady

Those who know me, know that I’m extremely passionate about songwriting. It is vitally important that the song be as strong as it can be both lyrically and musically. The music should enhance and support the lyrics and the lyrics must be as powerful as we can write them. As this has struck a chord in my heart, I often find myself saying “Words Matter!”

One of the greatest rewards of writing is finding that your music has touched the heart of the listener. Receiving a letter, an email, or having someone share their heart and tell you that your music has touched their life is just incredible.

Recently, I had a gentleman come to me at a concert and ask to speak with me. He was very kind, thanking me for my writing and told me that he really enjoyed my songs. As I thanked him for the compliment, it was clear that this wasn’t a casual statement he was making just to encourage me. Then, as he began to explain why he appreciated

my writing, that he gave his heart to Jesus while listening to “When You Bow At Jesus’ Feet,” I was blessed beyond words.

This is a song that wasn’t a radio single or a chart topper, still it had an eternal impact on a heart. We writers should keep that in mind. Awards and accolades are a great encouragement to any writer, but to know you’ve helped introduce someone to Jesus, that is the greatest gift of all!

When You Bow At Jesus’ Feet

We’ve all done things that we’re not proud ofMade mistakes along the way Walked the path of least resistanceTraveled roads that led to shame

But there’s no need to be held captive Beneath the weight that blame can bringJust pour your heart out to the Savior He alone can break the chains

ChorusThere is freedom and forgiveness There is peace and sweet reliefGrace and mercy now are waiting When you bow at Jesus feet

So bring your cares and every burden Lay them down and walk awaySay goodbye to all that haunts you Leave your guilt to yesterday

Hope will dawn with each tomorrow The grip of fear will loose it’s holdDefined no longer by your failures You’ll find strength in letting go

The summer is upon us and the Mark Trammell Quartet is blessed to be at a number of some of the finest events and sings across the country; but first I would like to introduce the young man who will be permanently filling the tenor position for the quartet. Dustin Black is a fine Christian man, 26 years of age and originally from Saginaw, Michigan. He first heard “our kind of music” a few years ago at a singing in California while attending school there. That was the only Gospel concert he had ever been to when he came and auditioned for us! After traveling with us on a 90 day probation period, the announcement was made that he would be our new tenor. Welcome to the MTQ family, Dustin Black! If you have the opportunity to see us along the way, be sure to stop by the table and welcome this fine young man to the world of gospel music.

The Mark Trammell Quartet is “on the move” for the last half of 2013. In addition to our nightly concerts, we have the privilege to sing at some of the most well known festivals and sings

in the country. In July, you can find us singing in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains with our friends Greater Vision, the Booth Brothers and the Perrys at the Gatlinburg Gathering in Gatlinburg, TN on the 5th. August, we’ll celebrate our 11th Annual Mark Trammell Quartet Homecoming at Hill Crest Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama on August 9-11th. Our special guests this year are the Whisnants and Greater Vision. Our Master of Ceremonies will be the inimitable Jay Parrack. (Admission is free!) Friday evening we sing with our friends the Whisnants. Saturday there will be a golf tournament for any who would brave the early morning, then we’ll gather again in the evening as we sing with Greater Vision and jump back to the early GV and Cathedrals days. Join us Sunday morning for the service featuring MTQ, the choir and Jay Parrack. I hope we’ll see you there! Following the Homecoming, MTQ will roll towards the hills of Branson, Missouri for Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic, where we will sing in the 4000 seat amphitheater on the 28th of August. September brings us to the last year the National Quartet Convention will take place in Louisville, Kentucky before the move to Pigeon Forge in 2014. The NQC has some very special things planned for their final year in Louisville…you don’t want to miss it! The dates for this year are September 8-14th. October brings the sights of fall and sounds of Gospel music to the Smoky Mountains. MTQ will make an appearance at Dollywood’s National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration. The Fall color makes the Smokies a beautiful place to be in October and we always look forward to singing there. Also, we have been invited back to the Great Smokies Praisefest with Greater Vision in November! To view our schedule to see when we’ll be in your

area visit our website at www.marktrammellquartet.com.We also want to thank the DJ’s and fans that are playing and requesting our current radio single Too Much To Gain To Lose. I remember the first time I heard that song. I was thirteen years old and had been a part of my first Gospel group for three weeks. We sang in the Little Rock, Arkansas area and the radio station there, KGMR, called and asked us to open for a group that was passing through called the Rambo’s. I met them for the very first time at the Teamsters Union Hall, but that’s not what I remember from that night… what I do remember was that Buck Rambo paid attention to a thirteen year old boy. He was very polite, came and introduced himself to me and said, “Hey sonny boy! What’s your name? I’m Buck Rambo, it’s sure nice to meet you.” I made a friend. Later on in the evening he sang a song; and though I didn’t know a lot about the message then, I remember the way he sang it. He convinced me that he knew what he was singing about, who he was singing about, and that he had been where he was singing about, and by God’s grace had made it through to the other side. After four decades in Gospel music I know a lot about the message now, and would like to dedicate this song to everyone who has been in the ministry, or has done something for the Lord and questioned whether or not anyone cared. This is for you.

“Too many miles behind meToo many trails are throughToo many tears help me rememberThere’s to much to gain to lose…

Too many sunsets lie behind the mountainToo many rivers my feet have walked throughToo many treasures are waiting over yonderThere’s too much to gain to lose.”

The Taylors are a brother-sister quartet from the heart of North Carolina. Jonathan, the eldest of the group at 26, sings tenor. Christopher & Suzanne, 23, are twins. He sings bass, and she sings alto. The youngest of the quartet is Leslie, 22, singing soprano. They are dedicated to stirring up the faith of the Christian community, as well as reaching others with the good news of Jesus Christ through Gospel music.

The Taylor siblings grew up as members of a small country church in Lillington, NC, where their father has been a Southern Baptist minister for over 26 years, and their mother serves as the minister of music. It was around the church piano, with their mother’s guidance, that the Taylors learned their distinctive four-part family harmony. Their local ministry began expanding while they were in high school and college. They currently perform 180 dates each year across the United States. For the last two years, The Taylors have had the special opportunity to sing abroad in Sweden, Norway, and Northern Ireland.

Growing up in a Christian home has reinforced their faith and has created in each of them a strong desire to proclaim their salvation through the ministry of music. God is at the center of The Taylors’ ministry and at the center of their hearts. Jonathan states: “Our music is the way we share the good news of Christ. He has changed our lives, and we want others to know how they can have a personal relationship with Jesus.”

When asked about the most memorable moment in her singing ministry, Suzanne replied: “Not long ago, I

met a woman who had just received a diagnosis of cancer. Even though she was devastated by the news, she shared with me that our music has given her hope that Jesus will give her strength to make it through. Hearing how our songs minister to others is the biggest blessing ever!”

Since their singing ministry began 7 years ago, the Taylors have encountered many challenges. “In the beginning,” Chris states, “one of the hardest parts of our ministry was finding the balance between school and singing. We studied all week and traveled each weekend. Many nights we would load up after a concert, and study through the night. We are so thankful that God helped us through. Jonathan was the first of us to graduate with a degree in business administration from Campbell University. Suzanne and I graduated from Liberty University last year. She majored in psychology, and I majored in religion. Leslie also graduated last year from East Carolina University with a degree in communication.” Along with the challenges, wonderful opportunities have come for the Taylors to meet lifelong friends everywhere they travel. Suzanne remembers: “We began traveling for weeks at a time

when we were still in high school. We missed our family so much. But God gave us special friends who became like family to us.” Jonathan says that he is grateful for the encouragement, prayers, and support that so many friends have given them.

Leslie adds: “Singing can also bring romance! Christopher, Suzanne, and I met our spouses as a result of our singing ministry. Chris met his wife, Amanda, when we sang at her home church in Newport, NC. I met my husband, Aaron Perkins, at NQC. Suzanne met her husband, Aaron Hise, when we attended a concert by the Whisnants.”

Leslie has recently rejoined the group after being away for a year. “It’s great to be back. I missed my family, and I missed singing. I am excited that God opened the doors for my husband and me to move back to NC and minister again with my siblings!”

The Taylors are excited about their future in the Gospel industry. Their commitment to excellence has been recognized in recent years with nominations for several prestigious Singing News awards including: Top 5 Horizon Group for 2010, 2011 and 2012; Top 10 Mixed Group for 2012 and 2013: and Top 5 New Mixed Group for 2013. The Taylors have also had 7 consecutive charting radio singles in the Singing News Top 80 Gospel Chart and have made 3 appearances on main stage at the National Quartet Convention. The Taylors will perform again this year at NQC on Saturday night. They invite everyone to visit them at Booth #565!

OH, SAY CAN YOU SEE?Ken Davis

By: Ken Davis

Yesterday my son in law, Scott Fowler, sent me this picture of my grandsons, Preston and Bailey. They made this flag with their own hand prints, as a gift to their father. Scott said it is the most moving gift he has ever received. He has tried hard to instill in the boys a respect for the history of our country and an awareness of the sacrifices that have given us the freedoms we enjoy. They have heard the story of the three and a half years my father,

their great grandfather, spent as a prisoner of war. They have seen the pictures of him raising the flag as he did almost every morning of his life. They know what the flag stands for.

A recent Jay Leno interview of a random person on the street revealed that this person had no idea what that flag stood for. No idea what the stars and stripes signified. A generation of such people are quickly populating our country.

If we forget the price of freedom we will loose it?

If we forget our history we will forfeit our future?

The flag reminds us of the history and cost of the freedoms we enjoy today. We must be sure that this young generation can still SEE the

My grandsons, Preston & Bailey

significance of the flag and know its rich history. That knowledge will help guarantee that long after we are gone, old glory will still have a land of the free and home of the brave over which it can wave.

Recently, our nation was reminded once again just how tragic the end result is when troubled and misguided young men adopt an irrational, violent, misguided radical ideology.

Not long before the Boston bombing, I was shocked to hear these words: “We have never invested as much in public education as we should have because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children: Your kid is yours and totally your responsibility. We haven’t had a very collective notion of these are our children. So part of it is we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.”

These are the words of Melissa Harris-Perry, an American author, television host and political commentator.

When I was a kid, my dad told my friends parents as well as my teachers at school that they had his permission to discipline me to “make me behave.” If Tommy’s mom had to discipline me for something, I got it again when I got home. I couldn’t use the “collective” argument that Mr. Smith has already spanked me for that. I guess my dad thought I belonged to him. ... the nerve!

Now that I’m a dad, I too tell my kids bus driver, teachers and neighbors that if my kid is with them, I expect them to make them behave. I realize that churches, boy scouts, youth groups, Sunday school classes, schoolroom classes and such are all “collective bodies” and as such influence our kids. I get it that our kids are influenced by lots more people than just their parents. But I don’t think Harris is referring to that obvious reality. I believe that “collective” is euphemism for Government. Do we really want to trust our government to raise our kids for us? The same folks that are ok aborting children by the thousands every year?

Again, don’t misunderstand me. I do not have an issue with having an involved Community. I advocate it. If I find someone breaking into my neighbor’s house, I’ll call the police. When my neighbor is on vacation, I’ll clean the newspapers off his driveway and cut his grass. When Preston and Bailey have a friend over to our house, I make that child obey the rules of our home. He can’t be mean. He can’t be disrespectful. He must share. He must use his manners. If he misbehaves, I let his parents know and I expect the same when my kids are at their friend’s homes. But ultimately, my kid’s friends are not my responsibility.

But Harris is not talking about just this type of community. She is talking about a public school system that takes a more active role in raising your kids and my kids and imparting their values on them because they are after all, “the communities children.” I want my kids schools to educate them….not indoctrinate them. I DO NOT want the government’s help in raising my children. It’s not their responsibility. Raising Preston and Bailey is the sole responsibility of Taryn and me. I can’t help but wonder if Harris would want me raising HER kids? I doubt it. Assuming she has kids, I wonder how she would react to me correcting or advocating my value set to them?

So…what’s a parent to do? What’s a grandparent to do? Take responsibility for teaching and modeling Godly virtue to your kids and grandkids. Do not abdicate that to ANYONE ELSE. ”

I will choose the “communities” and the “villages” that I want to influence my kids. I will choose where to worship and with whom my kids associate. Allow me to quote Adam Mitchell’s stirring speech from the movie, “Courageous:”

As a law-enforcement officer, I’ve seen firsthand the deep hurt and devastation that fatherlessness brings in a child’s life. Our prisons are full of men and women who lived recklessly after being

abandoned by their fathers, wounded by the men who should have loved them the most. Many now follow the same pattern of irresponsibility that their fathers did.

While so many mothers have sacrificed to help their children survive, they were never intended to carry the weight alone. We thank God for them. But research is proving that a child also desperately needs a daddy. There’s no way around this fact. As you know, earlier this year, my family endured the tragic loss of our four-year-old daughter, Emily. Her death forced me to realize that not only had I not taken advantage of the priceless time I had with her, but that I did not truly understand how crucial my role was as a father to her and our son, Dylan. Since her passing, I’ve asked God to show me, through his word how to be the father that I need to be.

I now believe that God desires for every father to courageously step up and do whatever it takes to be involved in the lives of his children. But more than just being there or providing for them, he’s to walk with them through their lives and be a visual representation of the character of God, their father in heaven.

A father should love his children and seek to win their hearts. He should protect them, discipline them and teach them about God. He should model how

to walk with integrity and treat others with respect and should call out his children to become responsible men and women who live their lives for what matters in eternity.

Some men will hear this and mock it or ignore it. But I tell you that as a father, you are accountable to God for the position of influence he has given you. You can’t fall asleep at the wheel only to wake up one day and realize that your job or your hobbies have no eternal value but the souls of your children do.Some men will hear this and agree with it but have no resolve to live it out. Instead, they will live for themselves and waste the opportunity to leave a godly legacy for the next generation.

But there are some men who, regardless of the mistakes we’ve made in the past, regardless of what our fathers did not do for us, will give the strength of our arms and the rest of our days to loving God with all that we are and to teach our children to do the same, and, whenever possible, to love and mentor others who have no father in their lives but who desperately need help and direction.

In my home, the decision has already been made. You don’t have to ask who will guide my family, because by God’s grace, I will. You don’t have to ask who will teach my sons to follow Christ, because l will. Who will accept the responsibility of providing and

protecting my family? I will. Who will ask God to break the chain of destructive patterns in my family’s history? I will. Who will pray for and bless my children to boldly pursue whatever God calls them to do? I am their father. l will.

I accept this responsibility, and it is my privilege to embrace it. I want the favor of God and his blessing on my home.Any good man does. So where are you, men of courage? Where are you, fathers who fear the Lord? It’s time to rise up and answer the call that God has given to you and to say, “I will. I will. I will.”

I’m really not concerned about being politically correct. I’m concerned about being Biblically correct. Now….let’s go radicalize our kids for the cause of Christ!
