Gordon’s 11 Pattern of Function 1. Health Perception He perceives his health not as a burden because he knows that his illness is not a hindrance to do his goals in life for he has his family to support and comfort him. Her mother also said that we should avoid vices for our health is important. 2. Nutritional Pattern He does have preferences when it comes to food. For his breakfast, he prefers to eat rice or bread, hotdog and ham. For his lunch, he usually eats chicken or pork with ice tea, chocolate, ice cream, ice candy. For his dinner, he is served with pork and rice. He has no food allergies, does not believe in any superstitions and he experience loss of appetite when he was in the hospital. His mother wishes that his eating pattern will go back to normal and he can eat whatever he wants. 3. Elimination Pattern He usually urinates every time he drinks water or fluids. No particular number moves his bowel once or twice a day. The usual color of his urine is whitish or yellow but during his hospitalization it is with blood on the first day. His stool is yellow in color. 4. Activity Pattern He goes out of the house most of the time to play basketball. He also plays computer. Every Saturday, he goes out with his friends to play and bond with them. He helps his mother do household chores. But due to his illness, he sometimes experiences fatigue and flank pain and he can’t accomplish his tasks. When he was already sick, he prefers to stay inside his room. 5. Sleep/Rest Pattern He sleeps 11 to 12 hours during the night. He sleeps at 8 pm and wakes at 8 to 9 am every Saturday to play basketball and computer. He does not take a nap during

Gordon’s 11 Pattern of Function

1. Health Perception

He perceives his health not as a burden because he knows that his illness is not a hindrance to do his goals in life for he has his family to support and comfort him. Her mother also said that we should avoid vices for our health is important.

2. Nutritional PatternHe does have preferences when it comes to food. For his breakfast, he prefers to eat rice or bread, hotdog and ham. He does not take a nap during the afternoon, he has routines before sleeping, he usually watches television and drink his milk and he can’t sleep in the hospital because there are many people. He does not practice enhancing activity and has no sleeping superstitions.

6. Cognitive Pattern

He is conscious, coherent, and cooperative. He converses spontaneously during the interview. He is a first year high school student. He claimed he had no experience of memory loss regarding past illnesses and experiences. He had no trauma that affected his mental status.

7. Self – Perception PatternHis life goal is to live a normally life. Since he was 3 years old, he is forbid to eat the things a child would likely eat (food jags). According to him, his life is a gift from God and he wants to live longer.

8. Role Relationship PatternHe is the 2nd child of 4 siblings. He has a good relationship with his parents and siblings. He feels satisfaction and fulfillment whenever his dreams will come true. He is a loving and thoughtful child according to her mother.

9. Sexual Reproductive PatternBefore he was hospitalized, he experiences pain near his genitalia every time he urinates. After his surgery, he claimed that there is only a little sensation felt.

10. Coping Stress Pattern

He easily copes with problems. He has his family to take care of him. He considers his illness as a gift and all he could do is pray for he knows God has good plans for him. He is supported by his parents and siblings. They have a close family ties.

11. Value Belief PatternHe is born a Christian. He is a Roman Catholic. Every Sunday, Mr. M. I. L. together with his family, spends time to attend the mass. He mother claimed that he has a strong faith in God that is why he perceived his illness as a gift from Him. He had taught by his parents the moral values and right conduct. They do believe in “abolaryos” and “hilots.”
