[director’s statement]
1. On Love: “Goodbye, You” is not a love story.
Love might be what Antoine, Melody and Guillaume all want — but it is not whatthey need. “Goodbye, You” is the story of three friends who head out on a triptogether, but end up going their own separate ways as each becomesincreasingly aware of what makes him/her most happy.
2. Hell is other people: “Goodbye, You” is a comedic take on the neuroses andother obstacles that arise when locked in a tight space with others. At the end ofthe film, separation becomes the only cure. Personal freedom triumphs over ourprotagonists’ respective relationships. Freedom, not love, is what Antoine, Melodyand Guillaume need.

Chinese).
In “‘Goodbye, You,” even the celebrated European New Wave anti-romance flirtswith —and eventually gets married to — the American road movie classic.
