Course format and content.
• Lectures cover aspects of structure and building construction in contemporary architecture.
Overview of structural systems and methods of construction.
Theme of tall building design and hi-rise construction.
• Site visits will be scheduled to inspect and study local building construction related to the theme of hi-rise construction. Office visits with project briefings are included.
• In-class assignments. Working in teams, part of the course meeting time will be used to work on assignments related to the topics of the course. This time will also be used to check progress on the research topic study.
• Research topic study. This research is focused on particular topics of structure, construction, building envelope, etc. related to the design of tall buildings. A final
report will be required at the end of the term. This is an individual research project.
