Zwarte Piet is so black because he climbs down the chimney to deliver the presents. In Holland, it is more common to give presents on Sinterklaas than at Christmas. Traditionally, the children put their shoes next to the fireplace with a carrot or some hay in it and a bowl of water nearby for Amerigo. Hello to the Gold Buyers and Gold Rush family, As another year comes to a close we can all reflect and see that a great job has been done, we now operate 24/7 somewhere in the world spanning all continents in over 30 countries and close to 1,000 stores. Wow, what an amazing achievement by a fantastic team of people! All this doesn't just happen, it starts with a clear vision and our Chairman of the Board, Tim Oldfield, is certainly a visionary who is prepared to back the vision with strong belief, the 2 key ingredients to succeeding in anything we do. Of course there are many elements that bring such a grand vision into reality and none more important than our dedicated 5,000 or so staff who turn up every day and tell the Gold Buyers story. It is really you who make this company great and we would like to extend our huge thanks and extend best wishes to you and all your families for a happy and safe festive season and a prosperous year ahead in 2013. Certainly 2013 is shaping up to be another great year for Gold Buyers as we mature into a truly global company. This brings about change and although we all get a little nervous around change the one thing in life that I have personally found to be a constant is change. In nature, as in all things in life, we are either growing or wilting and Gold Buyers will continue to grow and emerge as a strong global entity. Nowhere more than in Europe has such a change started taking place and already in the early stages clear results are showing which benefit all stakeholders, starting with our customers, our sales associates and line management, support staff, vendors and shareholders. So as we end the year it may be worthwhile thinking about what you might like to personally achieve in 2013. If I could take the liberty of sharing some thoughts you may like, to start by thinking about areas of your life that are important to you and give yourself an honest appraisal of where you are. I like the concept of a ‘balanced life’ and using the wagon wheel tool (see insert below) can help assess your life balance. Imagine the hub as zero point and each spoke of the wheel is an important area to you; it could be health, relationships, travel, career, financial, fun and fitness. Each spoke has increments from 0 (hub) to 10 (rim of the wheel). Rate each area from 0 – 10 (10 being perfect) and then connect each point forming your own inner rim. The goal is to have it as close to a circle as possible and of course close to the rim. This will help you decide as to what areas you might want to invest time on in 2013 to improve, it could be your health is not in balance, your financial position or your career, the great thing is it’s your choice and most importantly you have the control to make change. The next and most important step is to set goals, it may be a budget for your finances, it may be 30 minutes every day for fitness. Whatever it is they must be specific, measurable and most importantly time framed. I encourage you to give these goals the permanence of paper and reflect on them regularly throughout the year to help keep you on track. I hope that this may assist you in ensuring 2013 is your best year yet. I wish you all the very best. For those taking a break, stay safe, take time to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends and start 2013 reinvigorated. Have fun! I recently thought of our vision statement, ‘… through caring and with a passionate workforce…’ and rememberedMary, a seemingly sprightly, blue-eyed grandmother who arrived at my kiosk one morning. ‘I’m tying up someloose ends and want to sell some of my unwanted gold’. I paid Mary about $3000 for old chains, rings and bits ofold family treasures from the last century. A while later Mary came back to my kiosk to show me three of the mostexquisitely beautiful, identically set diamond and sapphire cluster rings in rose, yellow and white gold, which shehad bought. They had cost her about a thousand dollars apiece.

‘These are for my most precious possessions in the world, my granddaughters’, she smiled as she thanked meand wished me farewell. About six months later with a strange sense of deja voux, I glanced up from my kiosk atthree beautiful young women standing before me. ‘Hi, I’m Mary, named after my Nana.’ said the one withstrangely familiar blue eyes. ‘Gran passed away last week after losing her battle with Lupis and in each gift boxwith a diamond cluster sapphire ring we found a note to come and thank Mark, the gold man at the Gold Buyer’skiosk. She said you would understand. I’m not too sure that we do!’

I quickly brushed the saltiness from my eyes as I recognised the familiar rings on their hands and understood whatMary had meant about ‘loose ends’ and once again, with a lump in my throat thought about … through caring andwith a passionate workforce…

My most memorable and ever lasting experience with Goldbuyers was last Christmas. With no income or supportfrom my ex husband coming in, I was in a deep depression over fulfilling my kid's Santa wish list. I happened to bein the mall when I was handed a flyer and gave a moment of my time for a LMSY conversation. I would never haveeven given this a thought had it not been for that LMSY demonstration. I went home and gather all the gold/silverI had not worn in years, nor planned on ever using again. Next day I went back to Oshawa and the sweetest GoldBuyers Associate Audrey Kostoff serviced me. When she told me what I was receiving that day, I broke down intears of joy. She was concerned for me and asked why I was crying. I looked at her, tears continuously streamingdown my cheeks and said "My kids can now have Christmas". Goldbuyers offered me $767.00 that day. Not onlydid I fulfill my kid’s wish list, I also had enough left over for a wonderful dinner and bills!

This year, I'm on my way to a much better place, emotionally and financially however after recently losing my jobdue to a Target buy out, I decided to visit the mall again. I came up to the Gold Buyers store and asked if help wasneeded. Audrey remembered me! I submitted my resume, was interviewed and I have now worked 1 month in anincredible company! I work with Audrey and she is just as professional and sweet as the day my worries wereswept away!

Thank you Gold Buyers for changing my life and giving me the opportunity to help others! Thank you to the wonderful staff I work with! Associates, do your flyering and your LMSY because you never know whose life you will impact!

... and Raul Alfredo Romero RamirezAn old man came to sell a ring. I gave him an offering and upon hearing the amount he said “Sold”.

I paid him and thanked him for his visit. His daughter arrived asking “Why did you sell here? Other places paymore!” and he replied: “Gold has its value but kindness will never have price”

Seasons GreetingsWishing everyone happiness and success in 2013!
