Golden is an American singer, songwriter, and entertainment professional residing in Los Angeles, CA. He is recently known by his music featured in the E40 Beer 2016 Super Bowl Commercial, as well appearances on Nick Cannon’s ‘Wild & Out.’ Golden was born in North Carolina, but relocated to Georgia at the age of seven after tragically losing his father, which was just the beginning of the development of someone who would soon be considered a creative prodigy.
His budding passion for music and entertainment began as he watched his mom write songs and scripts when he was very young. He adopted the creative process as one of ultimate expression and soon began writing music of his own at the age of twelve. His musical influences have always been the diverse talents of artists like Toni Braxton, TLC, Whitney Houston, Biggie Smalls, Jars of Clay and Crystal Lewis.
His high school years were spent discovering his creative direction and musical lane. He recounts being suspended after his composition book filled with sexually violent lyrics was found by his principal. At the age of 17, he lost his mother to a long battle with cancer. It was at that crossroad in his life that he had decided to completely turn himself over to music and entertainment as a career.
After high school, he was quickly signed to a well known Atlanta artist development firm, as well as to Universal Music Group. He was booking national tours with shows like The Monique Show and 106 & Park. After his tour, and being completely physically and emotionally drained; he desperately wanted to leave entertainment all together and sign his life over to the military. Just days before being enlisted, he received a call from his uncle in Los Angeles asking him to assist on a major entertainment project. Deeply committed to his family, he headed West on a one-way ticket, $100 in his pocket, and a prayer that his life would soon take the direction and stability that he so desired and needed.
In California, he was approached by award winning producer, Dr. Csalochin to start a band by the name of PsychWard Druggies, which became the catalyst to him touring with legacy rap artist Tech N9ne through 75 cities in 85 days. Tech had become a sounding board for Golden, giving him the advice that he needs to protect himself in the industry and have a clear sense of guidance and direction.
Golden has since focused on taking the mindful journey of understanding himself as an artist and an individual by making lifestyle changes both personally and creatively. In 2015, he received a call from Nick Cannon to offer an opportunity to work closely alongside him to develop his project during the filming of Nick’s new TV show on Oxygen, ‘Like a Boss.’
When choosing the name Golden, he may have never known how prophetic the name could be as he develops into the modern day Golden Boy. With his soon to be released project, Passenger, he will offer a more multi-dimensional, nuanced portrayal of himself as both artist and man. His unparalleled determination and dynamic sound are sure to give Golden formidable star power that can’t and won’t be eclipsed.
