NE/SD District Membership Enhancement Coordinator

From Bill & Nancy

Well, Riding Season is definitely here and many of the riders from Chapter O have been adding

up miles.

In May, 7 Chapter O members journeyed down to Branson, MO for the MO Rally. This is one

of the largest rallies in our area and they had over 600 attending this year. There was great

riding but one of our very own had Trike problems and ending up staying a few more days to

get it fixed. Not to worry the local GWRRA members came to his rescue and helped him out.

Ask Les Delano for more details.

In June, 5 Chapter O members and an Oklahoma relative started out to the Hellbender Ride.

Al/Marlene rode to St Joseph, MO for lunch with us and then headed home. This was the

NE/SD district ride but a small group from NE-NE, NE-C and NE-O really enjoyed the ride.

BUT, again one of our own O members had Trike problems. Yep! Just ask Les Delano for the

details. Several nice people from Stewartsville came and offered help. One motorcycle rider –

Wes even got his truck and trailer to haul Les’ trike to St Joseph, MO after he made several

calls to get help.

On July 6, NE-O had a very nice dinner ride to Round the Bend. I believe there were 12 O

members there and as always the food was great. Those there also got to see Bob Lake’s new

Harley.

On July 11, 9 members from NE headed to the MN/ND rally in Fargo, ND. 7 from NE-O met 2

from NE-C in Watertown, SD for the first leg of the trip. We then all headed up to Fargo the

next day for the start of several days of fun. The highlight was NE/SD NE-O [6 members] and

NE-C [2 members] winning the baseball game – see the pictures below. I was totally delighted

to see our NE/SD team score 8 runs before the other team even got up to “bat” or should I say

“throw.” They won the first round of the ladder handily. The second playoff round wasn’t quite

so easy. In fact, as I was helping MN with the game I looked over and they were 4 runs behind.

But never fear – Big O and C came through and they moved on to the finals. Suffice to say they

started the last game adding up the runs and finished with a FLURRY – But then again that

makes sense since the team name was Fury.

Page 7: Gold Wing Road Riders Association 2019 O newsletter.pdfSpecial thanks to Bill, Nancy, Les and Janie for helping set up. Our June Sponsor Ride to Dairy Queen was lots of Ice cream and

This is what the game looks like. Next to it is the final ladder showing our on Fury in 1st Place.

We continued to have fun throughout the rally. There were several states outside of MN/ND

there but NE/SD was the largest district from out of state. At closing ceremonies we had a great

banquet and later gathered with old friends and new [one hilarious fellow was from Canada and

kept us laughing all night]. We ended the evening saying our goodbyes and looking forward to

next year’s MN/ND rally in Worthington, MN. Our hats off to Renae and Bob Hicks [New

MN/ND Directors – first rally] and their GREAT TEAM for putting on a fantastic rally. Don’t

miss next year’s MN/ND rally as it will surely be fun.

On the way back we again had Trike problems. NOPE it wasn’t Les this time. Ask Bill for

details. Thanks go out to a local man near Salem, SD for coming to our rescue. There sure are

a lot of nice people out there. We stopped overnight in Yankton, SD and had dinner and then

went out to the Gavins Point Dam for a nice little ride.

Page 8: Gold Wing Road Riders Association 2019 O newsletter.pdfSpecial thanks to Bill, Nancy, Les and Janie for helping set up. Our June Sponsor Ride to Dairy Queen was lots of Ice cream and

So as you can see there are lots of fun rides and more coming. Some of us are heading out to

Broken Bow, NE for the NE/SD rally. We invite you to join us. We will be leaving on

Thursday, July 25. Just let us know if you are interested.

Aug 24 Sat - Chapter Dinner Ride to POP and DOCs, We’ll meet at Burger King, Located at 6602 N 99th St, in Omaha, at 10:15am clutches out at 10:30am.

Aug 27 - 31 Tue - Sat ~ Wing Ding 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. Sept 20 – 22 Friday to Sunday- Clydesdales of Boonville, MO. Will try to set up a Saturday tour but will need a headcount by August 1. Warm Springs Ranch, 3118, 25270 MO-98, Boonville, MO 65233. (888) 972-5933 closes at 3 PM

All paved and walking tour [about an hour] is about a quarter mile walking total. Benches all around

to rest. No pets on the tour.

: the cost to the walking tour for Clydesdales is $15 per person. The comments below the highlighted

were from their website.

If there was enough interest in the VIP tour of the whole farm we would need 12-16. Otherwise we will do the

walking tour.

Take a look at their website – it is pretty neat.

https://www.warmspringsranch.com/

Recommend buying tickets in advance. Highly recommend VIP Tour (especially if you get a group to go so you

can share cost). VIP Tour is 90 minutes. They take you out in fields to see different age groups of Clydesdales

(and you get to interact with them), tour inside facility. Only done once a day, only sell one $500 ticket (we split

among 15 so worked out about $35 each), but can have up to 16 in group. It was awesome.
