Our Culture

Page 2: Gold Coast Academy of Sport Culture Document

The Gold Coast Academy of Sport is a not for profit organisation dedicated to helping young athletes achieve their potential, and that is not limited to the field, course, pitch or court.

The academy is young but it values are “old school”, equipping athletes as individuals to cope in the modern world and for life.

We are committed to developing well rounded, well grounded athletes who are focussed and driven in their sport, but who are also “good sports.” How you play the game is just as important as how well you play the game.

Athletes will learn not only the rules but how to play by them. They will be comfortable and humble public speakers. Our young people are representing the Gold Coast Academy of Sport and wider community at all times.

Our values are simple: Achieve your best in every aspect of life; Excel in everything you do; Inspire others and yourself by your deeds; and last but not least Respect yourself, the gifts and opportunities you’ve been given and those around you.

GCAS programs will be a combination of additional skills and technique training together with core education in sport. Each program will begin with a program orientation (information session), uniform presentation and an introduction of the scholarship athletes to be inducted.

Further information about the sports programs is available on the academy website and other social media. Programs may be extended in length given a high level of interest from the athletes and the availability of coaches and sponsorship. The athletes may also have the opportunity to represent the Gold Coast Academy of Sport at the annual Academy Games.
