Give Me My Mountain!Do you remember the things God has spoken to you in the past—the promises He has given you? Are you ready to say to the Lord, “Give me my mountain! I want to possess the promises in Your Word that belong to me”?

I’m excited today because God has promised us something, and we can have it if we’re willing to go after it with our faith! You see, what God has promised us is not going to fall on us. We have to take hold of what belongs to us with our faith and with our obedience to His Word.

Caleb was a man who remembered what God had spoken to him, and he held on to God’s promise for 45 years! That’s a long time to keep believing and remembering what God has said to you. Caleb told Joshua, “Give me that mountain over there—the one that God promised me” (Joshua 14:12). But that mountain just happened to be full of giants!

That didn’t stop Caleb for one second. He boldly declared, “The Lord helping me, I will drive [the giants] out” (v. 12 NIV). I like that! He was saying, “The Lord helping me, I will take my mountain.” And with the Lord’s help, you and I can take our moun-tain too!

Why did Caleb end up possessing the mountain God had promised him? Joshua 14:8 (NIV) says that Caleb “followed the Lord . . . wholeheartedly.” Not only did he follow the Lord with his whole heart, but he also operated in the God-kind of faith (Mark 11:23). In other words, he believed what God spoke and he spoke what he believed. By believing and speaking God’s Word, he possessed what God had promised him!

Has God said something to you? Has He given you a promise? Don’t let it slip! You have to hang on to His promise like a bulldog does with a bone! Your faith may not bring the promise overnight. But if you’ll keep on believing and speaking God’s Word, His promise will become a reality!

All of these things come to us by faith. But it must be faith that works by love (Gal. 5:6).

Faith is not working for some Christians because they do not have a full un-derstanding of what the Word of God says about faith.

Bible teachers say we must have faith to please God, but some casually pass over the teachings that faith works by love, and that God is love. When I was a boy, there were many subjects I used to hear preached. One was the power in the blood.

Another was this subject of love. All of these sub-jects must fit together.

If we are to live in line with God’s Word, we must not only be faith children of a faith God, but we must also be love chil-dren of a love God. Too many Christians do not

have any knowledge about walking in love. We need to understand all facets of it. The love of God needs to ooze out of us so much that when we walk into a room, people will know we are living in love!

If we are going to make our faith house strong,

Faith is the hand that takes the things we need from God. Everything Jesus purchased for us on Calvary can be obtained by faith. This includes salvation, healing, the fullness of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit, and victory over the world, the flesh, the devil, and all the powers of darkness.

Faith iN aCtiON

Love Is . . .Love is patient and kind.

Love is not jealous or boast-ful or proud or rude.

It does not demand its own way.

It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.

It does not rejoice about in-justice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

—1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (NLT)

we must make its foundations strong. And the foundation of faith is love. The Kingdom of God has been damaged by people who have heard the faith message once and have run off with it without knowing what

they were doing or how to use what they had heard. Before long, they came crashing down and didn’t understand why.

We can make all the confes-sions we want to. We can quote the Bible day and night. We can fast and pray, and we still won’t get anything if we are not walk-ing in love. The Word says faith works by love. But if we’re not walking in love, our faith won’t work!

When we check up on our-selves, we will often find certain areas where we are not really walking in love—and these areas are keeping our faith from operat-ing at full capacity. We’ve become

so accustomed to doing certain things in the natural realm—things such as losing our temper—that we never realize how these things hinder us in the spiritual realm!

I have learned that if I am to maintain any kind of faith walk,

I must put down my carnal na-ture. The secret is letting the love of God work within my spirit.

Love is more interested in others than in itself. But when we begin operating in this realm of love, we will be blessed. When we get so busy unselfishly help-ing others obtain blessings that we forget about ourselves, we will find honor, success, and promotion for ourselves.

The Word of God also in-structs us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31). We cannot really love others until we love ourselves. Some people will say, “Oh, I don’t want to be arrogant. We’re supposed to be

humble!” Yes, but there is a differ-ence between being arrogant and loving ourselves. A person can be arrogant and still not love himself or herself.

We should know who and what we are in Christ and what we have because of Him. If we know these things, we will real-ize that we are kings who sit in

heavenly places with Christ. That will give us a good self-image!

Many marriages are faltering because two people who don’t love themselves are trying to love each other. But when you think about it, they can’t really love their mate if they don’t even love themselves.

When we make it a point to walk in love, we’ll find that the God-kind of love spills over into every aspect of our lives. Not only will we reap spiritual bene-fits; we will reap natural benefits that we never thought possible.

We’ll discover that good things are happening to us. Pro-motions are coming. The money we need is coming. Everything we need is coming to us. As we walk the love walk, we are not having to make all these good things happen—they are hap-pening automatically.______________________(Editor’s note: This article was adapted from Kenneth w. Hagin’s classic mini-book Faith Worketh by Love.)

long before rheMA Quebec was estab-lished in 2007, God gave the Taylors a vision to help reach the nations of the world—particularly the 52 French-speaking nations—with the faith message. After graduating from RHEMA USA in 1987, the Taylors returned to their home state of Missouri and began traveling in ministry throughout the United States and overseas on short-term missions trips. After they completed a month-long trip to France in 1989, more direction came. “I was back home in Missouri,” Ken recalled. “I was praying in other tongues—just worshipping the Lord—and God spoke strongly to me. He said, ‘I want you to start praying for the people of Quebec.’ ”

At the time, neither Ken nor Tonja knew why God was leading them to pray for this French-speaking Canadian province. They had never been to Que-bec and didn’t know anyone there. They certainly didn’t know that only six-tenths of one percent of Quebecers were evangelical Christians and that the province was truly a mission field.

Though they couldn’t see the full picture, Ken and Tonja began to pray as God had directed. “As we prayed,” Ken observed, “the Lord put a vision in our hearts for the people of Quebec.” Several months later, during Winter Bible Seminar 1990, God gave Ken a glimpse of the bigger plan. “During a time of praise and worship,” he said, “it just came into my heart that we need to have a RHEMA in Quebec one day.”

At that time, the Taylors had yet to step foot in Quebec. So they continued to pray, letting the vision grow while they traveled and ministered. In 1990, Ken and Tonja visited the province for the first time and received an undeniable witness in their hearts confirming God’s destiny for them to establish their ministry base in Quebec.

Though God’s will for them to move to Quebec was clear, it was also evident that the timing was not yet right. In preparation for their ultimate reloca-tion, the Taylors felt led of the Spirit to first spend a season of ministry in France.

In August of 1992, they moved to Nice, France, where they worked alongside another RHEMA cou-ple, pastors John and Laura Madan, for two years. This vital time of preparation gave them an oppor-tunity to become more fluent in the language and to cultivate relationships which laid the foundation for what was to come.

In 1994, after Ken and Tonja had lived in France for two years, God finally moved them to Quebec. They had three things on their hearts: establishing a strong local church, starting a French-language publishing ministry, and training French-speaking ministers.

Today the Taylors are seeing all three facets of their vision coming to pass. Nine months after mov-ing to Quebec they assumed the pastorate of Église La Vie Comblée de Drummondville (Abundant Life Church Drummondville). They’ve seen tremendous

Fidèle à l’Appel

Faithful to the CallThe question burned in their hearts—“How do we help reach the world’s French-speaking nations with the message of faith in Jesus Christ?” Ken and Tonja Taylor didn’t know, but they did know how to start. They took one step at a time and just obeyed God.

growth in their congregation over the years. They are also the official distributors of Faith Library books translated into French for all of North America.

In 2007, Ken and Tonja saw the fulfill-ment of what the Lord had shown Ken 17 years earlier. RHEMA Bible Training Center came to Quebec. Located in Drummond-ville, the campus is only an hour to an hour and a half away from the province’s major cities. This works well with the intense, weekend-class format used at RHEMA Que-bec and at many other RHEMA international campuses. Students are able to commute in on Fridays and leave Saturday evenings.

In a unique relationship, RHEMA Quebec works closely with RHEMA France to reach as many French-speaking people as possible. The schools share much of the same teach-ing staff, with European and Quebec based instructors teaching courses on both sides of the Atlantic at different times throughout the school year. Ken explained, “We can ac-complish so much more together than we can apart. If each of us on the French team were just doing our own thing, we wouldn’t have nearly the same impact.”

It’s no surprise then that RHEMA Que-bec and RHEMA France both launched new campuses in September 2010—bringing the number of French-speaking RHEMA campuses to four. RHEMA France opened a campus in Nice, and RHEMA Quebec established a new campus in Montreal, the second-largest French-speaking city in the world after Paris.

Because the need is so great, both Ken and Tonja are excited about the influence RHEMA is beginning to have in Quebec. Ken explained, “Quebec is 99 percent Ro-man Catholic, but only about 15 percent are actually practicing. In the generation we’re trying to reach, most have never been in

church. They have never heard the simple message of salvation and have no clue which end is up as far as morality is concerned. Children are growing up in a very liberal and godless environment.”

For the Taylors, the one great thing about such an environment is that the people are hungry. “They don’t know what they are hungry for,” Ken noted, “and they are look-ing in the wrong places, but they’re hungry. We have the opportunity to offer them the only thing that will satisfy them.”

Throughout the years, cultural dif-ferences, religious and racial prejudices, spiritual opposition, and the difficulties of educating their five children within the French school system have presented the Taylors with many opportunities to perse-vere. In spite of these challenges, Ken and Tonja, along with their family, are seeing the rewards of their faithfulness and dedica-tion to God’s call. Nearly all RHEMA Que-bec graduates are in some form of ministry today. And in addition to their native Quebec graduates, they have alumni from French-speaking Africa, and even Haiti, who have grabbed hold of the Word of faith and are taking it back to their nations.

Ken and Tonja have also seen amazing fruit in their church. Twelve years ago one of their members, Celine, underwent a routine operation. Before the operation, Tonja felt led to pray against infection—and it soon became clear why. After the surgery, doctors noticed an abnormal black spot on Celine’s stomach. Within a matter of hours, the spot began to grow.

Celine had contracted the flesh-eating disease. And it wasn’t in her arm or leg—which could be amputated to save her life. The disease was in her abdomen. Doctors said they didn’t know of anyone who had lived after contracting the disease in that part of the body.

The disease began eating Celine’s ab-dominal muscles and ovaries. When doc-tors opened her up in surgery, however, they

saw something amazing. Inexplicably, the bacteria stopped when it reached her vital organs.

Though the disease had halted its deadly course, Celine remained in a coma. Ken went to see her in the hospital, where her husband stood faithfully by her side praying in the Spirit. “There was no sign of life,” he recalled, “but I had it in my heart to speak Romans 8:11 to her: ‘If the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He will quicken your mortal body.’” As soon as Ken spoke those words, Celine shook her head yes. After a week in a coma, she woke up.

Though the immediate danger had passed, Celine’s battle of faith was far from over. She had no muscles in her abdomen and was in great pain. However, because she was in a church that believed in the Word and divine healing, over time she recovered completely. She went on to attend RHEMA Quebec as a member of the charter class. Today she is one of the main praise and worship leaders in the church—a miracle in itself for someone who had no abdominal muscles. God is also using her to minister healing to others.

Though Ken gives all the glory to Jesus for this miraculous healing, he is also very grateful to the Hagins. “If the Hagins had not been faithful to their call, then we wouldn’t have been trained to do what we are doing. God called us—a young couple from Mis-souri—to go to Quebec, minister in French, and reach these people,” he said. “We have just tried to obey God—to do what He has called us to do—and stay faithful, and persevere.”

The Taylors are determined to reach the finish line. Each year along with their diplomas, RHEMA USA graduates receive track-and-field relay race runner’s batons, symbolizing that it is their turn to run their race for God. “We have taken hold of that baton and we are running with it,” Ken said. “We are not going to give up, because when we see our graduates preaching the Gospel with passion and the fire of the anointing, it makes all those years of effort worth it.”

“‘We love Him because He first loved us’ (1 John 4:19 nKJV). The reason we love Him is that He first loved us. The Bible teaches us that we shouldn’t love in word only, but in demonstration (1 John 3:18). So that means God doesn’t love in word only, but in demonstration. And God demonstrates His love through His body, which is us. Sharing the Gospel is not telling someone, ‘you know what your problem is? you need to love God.’ That doesn’t bring a person into love. That condemns him. you didn’t get your wife to fall in love with you by telling her to love you.”

“we were created for the extraordinary. God has called you to live an extraordinary life and empowered you to do so! But how do you live an extraordinary life? The answer is the grace of God. God said to the Apostle Paul in Second Corinthians 12:9, “ ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness’” (nLT). After years and years of study on this, my definition of the grace of God is, ‘God’s empowerment that gives us the ability to go beyond our natural ability.’ The majority of Christians are trying to live a godly life in their own ability. I used to try to live a Christian life in my own ability, and I was miserable. I’m so glad that God’s grace empowers me to live a Christian life.”

David’s Mighty Men of Valorkenneth W. hagin

in first sAMuel 22:1–2 (nKJV) we see David hiding from King Saul. when his parents and brothers heard of it, they joined him. So did everyone who was in distress, in debt, and discontented—about 400 men. And David be-came their captain.

This was a poor, deplorable group. But God changed them into men of valor. God took them where He found them and brought them where He wanted them to be.

David’s men started out with great needs—they were in trouble, in debt, and dissatisfied. But they ended up per-forming great deeds (see 2 Sam. 23:8–12). The Bible is full of people with great needs who wound up doing great things for God. Moses, Gideon, Peter, and Paul are just four examples. The power of God enabled these men to accomplish mighty things for Him! You can do more in five minutes with the power of God than you can in a lifetime with your own strength.

David’s mighty men also sowed great seeds. In First Chron-icles 29:6–7 (CEV) we see David’s government officials and army commanders giving large offerings to build the temple in Jerusalem. when these men started out with Da-vid, they were broke and in debt. now, thanks to their great God, they were able to give almost 200 tons of gold!

when it’s all said and done, how will we be known? will it be for our great needs or our great deeds? It’s certain that for eternity we will be known for the seeds we’ve sown into the Kingdom of God. These are not necessarily financial seeds. They can be seeds of our talent, our time, and many other things.

Let God work in your life until your great needs turn into great deeds and your great deeds turn into great seeds. Men of valor give willingly of themselves to make sure that the work of God stands. Are you ready to be a man of valor? Are you ready to sow great seeds and do great deeds for God?Guest

The way we do church needs to change. Charles Finney once said, “Our theaters are full because the world lies well. Our churches are empty because we tell the truth

poorly.” And many times, the first impression anyone gets of a church comes from the praise and worship

team and the technical staff (audio, video, and lighting).

A church can have a top-notch praise and worship team, but if the audio staff can’t produce good sound quality, the worship experience will be lacking. By the same token, a church can have the best technical staff

available, but if the praise and worship team doesn’t know how to flow with the Spirit and the pastor, the

ultimate goal of leading people into God’s presence can be hindered.

The RHEMA Bible Church platform received a facelift in 2008. Pastor Kenneth W. Hagin knew it was necessary because we live in a visually-driven society.

“We can use all of the modern technology the world is using—just keep the Spirit there,” he said. “You can use the lights and smoke and so forth. They’re not going to

kill the Spirit. There’s nothing wrong with it.”

Amplify 2011, RHEMA’s first worship and technology conference, brings together some of the top worship

leaders and audio, lighting, and video companies in the nation. Concerts . . . worship and technical workshops . . .

Q-and-A sessions with musical guests . . . all designed to help you take your praise and worship

One thing that can cause a lot of problems in marriages is lack of communication. People have different personalities and ways of communicating. Some people are loud. Others are quiet. If a loud person gets hooked up with a quiet person, it’s easy for conflict to start brewing.

soMe fAMilies Are Just loud. Everything they do is loud. They talk loud. They have fun loud. And they fight loud. Other families are so quiet you could hear a pin drop in their homes.

I came from a quiet family, but my husband, Ken, is from a loud family. Growing up I was taught that only one person spoke at a time. If you had some-thing to say, you never interrupted while another family member was talk-ing. You waited until that person finished before speaking.

But when I married Ken, I quickly learned that if you didn’t inter-rupt, you didn’t get to talk. And if you didn’t talk loud enough, you weren’t heard. I saw only one solution: I learned to talk loud!

Get to the Point, Sweetheart!

Most women feel they have to tell every detail of a situation in their conversa-tions. But men usually just like to hear the bottom line.

Women need to under-stand that most men don’t want to hear all the whys and wherefores. On the other hand, husbands can learn to be a little more pa-tient and listen when their wives are trying to tell them something.

Wedges That DivideWe live in such a fast-

paced world that it seems as though we don’t have time to communicate. But we can’t afford not to communicate. Constant communication will end disputes and take our mar-riages to the next level.

Sometimes spouses con-clude that if they can’t get their point across, there’s no reason to continue com-municating. So they just stop talking. But when we stop talking to each other, we take the first step toward growing apart. The wife begins to do her thing and the husband does his thing. Eventually all com-munication stops. When this happens, the marriage is no longer a marriage but an arrangement.

Opening the Lines of Communication

No two people agree on everything all the time. We won’t learn how to com-municate effectively with-out going through some disagreements or hard times in our marriages. But all of us can get to the point in our marriages where we can say what we think and work through any situation that may come up.

Here are two ways to keep the lines of commu-nication open:

1. Listen with our mouths shut.We need to hear our

spouses out and then re-spond. Many times we’re so busy figuring out how we’re going to respond that we don’t hear ev-erything that the other person said. And then we end up responding inappropriately.

2. Respond assertively instead of aggressively.Aggressive attacks

call for retaliation. But instead of being aggres-sive, we can be asser-tive by using words like “I feel” instead of words like “you never” and “you’re so. . . .”

FeelingsIf our spouses are going

to feel safe to share their true feelings, we can’t slap

them down with our words when they tell us how they feel. If we do, they may quit talking. They may passively go along with what we’ve said, but one day they’ll blow up. It’s like a pressure cooker that has a clogged release valve. Eventually it will blow sky high!

Blowups can be avoid-ed when we learn how to express our feelings prop-erly. As long as we keep them locked up, they will remain tucked away some-where in the back of our mind. Our spouse only has to push the right but-ton and those feelings will come spewing out.

Marriage is teamwork, and communication plays an important role for any team to work. But as we learn to communicate with our spouses and express our feelings the right way, we will build stronger, hap-pier marriages that last.

MAny PEoPLE have a difficult time comprehending God as a Father who loves and cares for them. They have the idea that God is like a judge who sits up in Heaven and looks for a chance to punish them the moment they make a mistake.

But no, God is a loving Heavenly Father! The Bible says that He is love (1 John 4:8, 16).

In the Gospels Jesus always por-trayed God as a loving Father.

John 3:16 (nKJv)16 “For GoD So LoVED the world that He gave His only be-gotten Son, that who-ever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 16:27 (nKJv)27 “For THE FATHER Himself LoVES YoU, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.”

Jesus presented the Fatherhood side of God. He presented the love nature of the Father, which is what Christianity is all about. Religion

is harsh and cold, but Christianity is a relationship with a loving Father God—a Father who always cares for the needs of His children. we see that again in these verses.

MattheW 6:8, 26 (nKJv)8 “YoUR FATHER knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet YoUR HEAVENLY FATHER feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

notice the utter ten-derness in this pic-ture of the Father caring for His chil-dren. our Heavenly Father knows our needs, and He de-sires to meet them before we even ask Him for help! God is a God of love, and His very love nature compels Him to care for and provide for His children.

In Matthew chapter 6 Jesus says more about the Father’s care for His children.

MattheW 6:31–33 (nKJv)31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What

shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’32 . . . For your heav-enly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Some people have been taught to read

that last verse, “All these things shall be taken away from you.” They think if they put God first, they won’t ever have anything.

But that’s not what Jesus said. He said the things we need will be added to us as we seek first the Kingdom of God. That promise

proves our Father loves and cares for us. He doesn’t want His children to worry or fret about anything, be-cause He loves us and wants to meet our every need.

we can be sure of this one fact: As we trust God with our lives, He will take a Father’s place and

perform a Father’s part in our lives. He is our Father, and Jeremiah 31:3 says He loves us and cares for us with an everlasting love.__________[Editor’s note: This article was adapted from Kenneth E. Hagin’s book Classic Sermons.]

god,

I come to you in the name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with you, and I want to be right with you. I want you to be my Heavenly Father. I ask you to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in my heart that you raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Romans 10:9). I believe in my heart that you did raise Jesus from the dead, and I confess that He is my Sav-ior and Lord. Thank you for saving me now and making me your child. I trust you with my life. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for loving me.

Amen.

MArK 11:25 begins, “And when ye stand pray-ing, forgive, if ye have ought against any.” We are in-structed to love our en-emies. To do this, we will have to bless those who curse us and do good to those who don’t do good to us. We are not walking in love and forgiveness un-less we do.

Any number of times, I’ve been like anybody else. I’ve been tempted not to forgive, but I refuse to let the least bit of animos-ity, the least bit of ill will, the least bit of wrong feel-ing get in me. In fact, when people have talked about me, I prayed for them. So many times, people don’t know what they’re doing. Even Jesus said of the very ones who crucified Him, “Forgive them. They know not what they do.”

By the time I was in the second grade, I was mad at the world. I felt like I’d been cheated in life. Our home was divided. My

oldest brother, Dub, had to live with some kinfolks, and I lived with others. We both grew up with chips on our shoulders.

If some of our kinfolks did Dub wrong, he’d whip them. I couldn’t start any-thing because I had a heart condition. If they did me wrong, I’d say to myself, I’ll never speak to them again. I’d give them the si-lent treatment.

But then I got born again and the love of God was shed abroad in my heart (Rom. 5:5). It wasn’t too many weeks after I was healed at age 17 that one of my kinfolks did me an injustice. When this hap-pened, I said to myself, I’ll give them the old silent treatment.

The next day after I said that, I was walking downtown and saw this person coming toward me. The thought crossed my mind to look into a store window and turn my back on them. Another

thought flashed through my mind to cross the street so I wouldn’t have to meet them.

But then something rose up inside me. The Bible says, “The love of Christ con-straineth us” (2 Cor. 5:14). That love was in my spirit. I didn’t have to let it domi-nate me. I could have let my natural human reason-ing and flesh dominate me. But thank God, I let that love rise up in me.

Instead of turning against those folks, I went to meet them. I reached out my hand and told them that I loved them. I said with tears, “I’m praying for you, and I want you to know that if it would help you any, I would get down on my knees right here and kiss your feet.” When I said that, they started crying out, “Forgive me. Forgive me. I’ve done you an injustice.”

Love never fails. To fellowship with God, to walk with God, to walk in

God’s realm, to walk in the Spirit, we must walk in di-vine love, for God is love (1 John 4:8, 16). To walk in love means to walk in the Spirit, because love is a fruit of the Spirit.

God wants us to grow. We can grow in love be-cause love is a fruit and fruit grows. And by show-ing the right spirit and lov-ing people, we’ll reap rich rewards.__________________(Editor’s note: This article was adapted from Kenneth E. Hagin’s minibook How to Walk in Love.)

If we’re going to walk in health, we’re going to have to walk close to God. We will have to do what He said in Mark 11:24–25 and walk in love. Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” This verse brought me off the bed of sickness.

18 THE WORD OF FAITH // Feb/Mar ‘11

Page 19: God Is MovInG In Quebec! // MarrIaGe MedIcIne ... · Faith Works by Love Kenneth W. haGIn Everything Jesus provided for us comes to us by faith. But to be effective, our faith must

How IMPoRTAnT it is for us to realize that receiving our healing is easy—it’s simple. Jesus is the Healer, and He took, bore, and carried every sickness and disease so that we wouldn’t have to (Isa. 53:4–5; 1 Peter 2:24). It is not the will of God for us to be sick but for us to walk in life and divine health.

Right now, whether it feels like it or not, healing and whole-ness are ours. In the natural, we’re hooked up with our five senses. we’re moved by what we see, feel, and hear. we’re moved by this natural realm because we’re human. But God wants us to be moved by what we believe—by what His word says (2 Cor. 5:7).

The moment we were born again, the Spirit of the living God came to dwell in us (John 14:17; Rom. 8:11). And the more we hear the word, the more aware we’ll be of God’s faith, ability, and healing power on the inside. every-thing god is—Love, joy, Peace, strength, and

heaLth—he is in us. God is real, and He should be more real to us than any-thing else in this life.

when I became the Coordinator of the Prayer and Healing Center, wouldn’t you know the devil at-tacked me! (when God promotes you, the enemy is going to try to stop you.)

I was in excruciating pain from a ruptured disk and sciatic nerve problems in my right leg. If you’ve ever had back prob-lems, you know that you can’t even move, let alone walk. There were times I just wanted to go home to be with Jesus because it hurt so badly. we’ve prob-ably all been there at some time!

But I had to make a decision. I had to decide that no mat-ter what I felt like, I was healed. when I made that decision, and when I began to stir up the life of God in me by speaking the word, every pain disappeared!

The devil will knock on our door, and He’s going to try to

get us to look out the window at that sick-ness and disease. He’ll try and put pain on us. But the whole time he’s doing that, deep on the inside of us where God lives, there’s life! There’s healing, and it’s ours for the taking.

We’re not meant to Live an ordi-nary LiFe; We’re meant to Live a suPernaturaL LiFe in christ. The Bible says that when we walk, God walks. when we talk, God talks. God is bigger than who we are in our natural bodies, and He wants us to live in a place of light and revelation—a place of divine health.

It’s time for us to speak what the word of God says and get a revelation of who is in us. we can walk triumphantly through any situation, be-cause we have God Almighty dwelling on the inside. There’s no problem—no sick-ness or disease—that can keep us down!

The Bible focuses a lot on the principle of love. In scripture after scripture we are reminded that we need to practice love in all areas of our lives. Often in reference to practicing love, I think of Matthew 5:44: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” I realize that one of the challenges I have is to practice love toward my enemies, so I read this verse quite often.

Then my thoughts go to what we call the Love Chapter—First Corinthians 13—and I am reminded to read verses 4 through 7 (Amplified): “Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].”

Those verses come to mind often when I think about love. However, this month the Lord brought to my remembrance a scripture concerning love that we often overlook or ignore. Jesus was teaching the multitude and one of the Pharisees, an expert in religious law, asked Him a question, trying to trap Him: “ ‘Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?’ Jesus replied, ‘ “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment’ ” (Matt. 22:36–38 NLT).

In His teachings Jesus emphasized that the most important thing in our lives should be to love the Lord with our entire being—our heart, soul, and mind. The Lord has been continually reminding me recently that in the perilous days we live in, it is important for each one of us to stir up the desire to love Him in a greater measure.

From the mid-’60s into the early ’80s, there was a wave of desire in the Charismatic Renewal to know the Lord, love the Lord, and receive a knowledge of His Word. People would come to church night after night and week after week to receive insight from the Word of God. They developed a love for God and His things as never before. I was excited about this, because I knew the importance of placing God first and loving Him with your entire being.

However, around the mid-’80s that love and hunger for the things of God began to deteriorate. I have seen the spiritual climate gradually change to the extent that even dedicated Christians want a once-a-week experience with God. They get restless

if the church service lasts more than an hour-and-a-half, and some will even leave after that time.

This is very alarming to me, because I am concerned that what happened to the church at Ephesus is happening today. In Revelation 2:2–5 (NLT) we read, “ ‘I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. You have patiently suffered

for me without quitting. But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works

you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches.’ ”

When you love someone, you want to be around that person continuously. In a marriage, the partners’ love for each other should increase over the years. So should it be with us and the Lord. Our love for Him should increase the longer we are saved. I encourage you to stir up that love for Jesus again that you experienced when you first accepted Him as your Lord and Savior. As you do, you’ll find that it will be well with you and life will have new meaning.

A HUMAN LIFE

Well, how do you think you did? How much did you think A HUMAN LIFE was worth? Psalm 49:8 (NCV) says, “The price of a life is high. No payment is ever enough.” But, thank God, there was a price paid for all of us so we could live forever with God. First Peter 1:18 and 19 (NCV) tells us, “You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ.” So, what’s your life worth? God thought it was worth the life of His only Son!
