Worship Notes If you are tuning in to Cherry Creek, welcome and thank you for worshiping with us on this beautiful Sunday morning. Music for some songs may be found at the end of this bulletin. Thank God for our Mothers! Cultur-ally, today is a day we set aside to honor mothers. From a biblical perspective, God’s ordinary mode of saving and redeeming people is through His work in families (think of God’s plan of salvation of the world through Israel...the family of Abraham). So it makes sense that we would highly value mothers. For they (along with our fathers) are given the primary responsibil-ity of making disciples out of their children. Mothers are our “first contact” for learning about God and fostering a relationship with Him through Jesus. Thank God for mothers! More to Mother’s Day. On this Mother’s Day, we give thanks for the roles of mothers and other loving nurturing people in our lives. As we do, we also offer our respect and love to those for whom this day is painful. Some mourn the loss of loving mothers; others do not have happy memories of childhood; some have been unable to bear children or have suffered the death of children, others have placed children into adoption. As the family of God, we rejoice with those who rejoice on this day and we weep with those who weep.

The Church as Mother. Reformation theologian John Calvin said, “He who does not have the church for mother does not have God for Father.” Have you ever thought of the church as your “mother?” God has chosen to use the church as a place where we are nurtured, fed, disciplined, loved and taught how to grow in faith. Participat-ing in the life of the church is part of our spiritual upbringing. Giving: If you can continue giving your tithes and offerings, please do so. Checks may be mailed to the church; or if you already have an account for online giving, please sign in at the link below. https://www.elexiogiving.com/App/Giving/cherrycreekpres Prayer for the Week Lord, on this Mother's Day we lift up the aching hearts of all those who long to be mothers, but mourn the absence of new life within them; who have conceived, but suffered loss through miscarriage or abortion; who have given birth, but endured the tragedy of burying a child. Their grief is often hidden from us or neglected on this day of celebra-tion of motherhood. We pray that they may experience healing in this church family. Risen Lord of life, grant them comfort and peace, breath in us all the breath of new life. Through Jesus Christ, who defeated death, Amen.
