TECHNOLOGY • INFRASTRUCTUREPROGRAMS • SAFETY & SECURITY
SAFETY ANDSECURITYINFRASTRUCTURETECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS
Technology: The bond will provide for the complete update and ongoing maintenance of our technology instructional and communication resources, so students and teachers in both buildings will have access to the tools and resources of a modern, efficient, multimedia classroom and school environment. One vote in 2014 will provide for immediate improvements to technology resources, plus also updates in 2019 and 2024.
Programs: The bond will allow for investment into current and new educational programs for students, such as our new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math programs (STEM), math and science equipment and materials in both buildings, new and updated instructional supplies for K-12 programs, and learning devices that will help teachers challenge and inspire students in all areas with new media and instructional resources and technology.
Infrastructure: At a time when schools around us are building new multi-million dollar buildings, Gobles Public Schools has instead committed to renovations, upgrades, and repairs to our current buildings, a considerable savings to Gobles taxpayers. The bond will allow for needed repairs and upgrades to facilities in three phases, such as upgrades to HVAC system and electrical panels, classroom and lab furniture and equipment, and the purchase of new school buses.
Safety & Security: One component of facility upgrades and renovations will be to provide the kind of safe and secure buildings we require for all district students. The bond will provide for improvements to doorways, public communication and address systems, cameras, and public access to buildings, plus the renovation of entryways so visitors to the school are always first greeted and screened by an adult member of our school staff.

The Gobles Varsity Softball team has finally gotten a few games under their belts after having 13 games cancelled due to weather.
We are excited for a great season ahead of us with many returners and young players who have set the bar high for this season. The returning players for the 2014 season are seniors ASHLEY BOYER and NICOLE WAHMHOFF, Junior SHARYENA HUNT, Sophomores EMILY BOLHUIS, MOLLEE NASON, BRIANNA GILDEA, SYDNEY WILCOX, MYRANDA CARE, ELLEN DOYLE, COURTNEY PASEK and HALEY ROCK. We have 3 freshmen who are joining the team this season: ALEXIS ZAJDA, KAYLEE WEISS and SAMANTHA BROWN.
Gobles Varsity Softball starts with a 4-1 record in the first week of competition…
Gobles defeats Watervliet after late game single, 5-4. Gobles and Watervliet exchanged
the lead six times on Thursday, but Gobles ended up on top with a 5-4 win in eight innings over Watervliet. Gobles pulled out the win thanks to a strong
eighth inning. Gobles scored on a two-run single by Haley Rock, scoring Bri Gildea and Emily Bolhuis. Bri paced Gobles at the plate. Bri went 3-4 and scored three runs. Gobles tied the game in the fourth on a two-run single by Courtney Pasek that scored Gildea and Bolhuis. After a quick strike from Watervliet, Gobles responded with one run in the sixth. Gobles scored on an error. Gobles jumped out to an early lead in the second game on Watervliet and captured an 8-2 victory. The game was decided quickly as Gobles exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings. An RBI single by Bri Gildea, a two-run double by Emily Bolhuis, and an RBI single by Sydney Wilcox in the first inning and a two-run double by Courtney Pasek and an RBI single by Mollee Nason during the second inning fueled Gobles 's offense early. Emily racked up two RBIs on three hits for Gobles. Alexis Zajda was a workhorse on the rubber while bagging the win for Gobles. Alexis allowed two earned runs, three hits and four walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.
Gobles shut the door early on Saugatuck, capturing a 10-0 victory in the first game of the SAC North. Ten runs in the first three innings allowed Gobles to put the game away early. A solo home run by Sharyena Hunt in the first inning and a walk by Nicole Wahmhoff and a fielder’s choice during the second inning fueled Gobles ‘s offense early. Bri Gildea racked up two RBIs on two hits for Gobles . She singled in the first and third innings. The second game was called due to rain in the bottom of the 4th inning and will be resumed at a later date.
Gildea collected three hits, sparking Gobles to a 10-6 victory in seven innings over Saranac on Saturday at Comstock Park. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings. Alexis Zajda recorded the win for Gobles even though she allowed six runs over seven innings. She struck out two, walked one and surrendered 10 hits. Gobles tacked on another three runs in the third. The inning got off to a great start when Emily Bolhuis doubled, scoring Sharyena Hunt and Bri. That was followed up by Wahmhoff ’s single, bringing home Courtney Pasek. Gobles pushed across two runs in both the fifth inning and the sixth. After a quick strike from Saranac, Gobles responded with two runs in the sixth. Gobles scored on a single by Mollee Nason and an RBI double by Nicole.
Sharyena Hunt had two extra-base hits for Gobles. She doubled in the first and third innings and singled in the seventh inning. Hunt recorded the win for Gobles even though she allowed six runs over seven innings. She struck out six, walked two and surrendered eight hits. Gobles was sparked by Sharyena and Mollee Nason, who teamed up for five hits and four RBIs.
