ACTION STEP Teacher Laptops

Teacher laptops will be used to provide support in all three tiers of instruction i.e. to collect and analyze data before, during, and after walk throughs, peer observations, teacher evaluations. In addition they will be used to provide quality professional development opportunities for all staff & to continue to support our PLC’s. As a District, our work with Read 180, ATI and the Galileo assessment systems has created the need for teacher technology to support our common formative assessments. This technology has allowed us to provide immediate feedback and data analysis. .

The implementation of Bring Your Own Device, BYOD, model encourages students to bring in their own technology. Providing students technology allows those students who do not have their own technology the ability to access additional information and experiences. Student laptops will be used in whole group, small group, and independent instruction to assist students in the areas that they need to improve upon through the use of Read 180, Study Island, Reading Eggs, and other uses. Sixty (60) student laptops will be purchased.

ACTION STEP Planning for the Title I Jump Start Program

The Title I Jump Start program planning began in September of 2011. The reason this is being implemented is due to the fact that our lowest income students need a jump start to their education in order to close the achievement gap. Parents were surveyed to regarding their interest in the program. There was a tremendous amount of interest in the program based on the surveys received.

ACTION STEP Evaluation of the Title I Jump Start Program -

The program will be evaluated to ensure that the program has an impact upon student achievement. This will be measured when students are assessed on the DIBELS in kindergarten. Based on data from other programs within the district, students tend to score higher on DIBELS than their peers that didn't attend a Dysart Early Childhood program. We expect to see the same results from the Title I Jump Start program
