● Advocates for all policy considerations to start with a goal of having students physically present in school, although they acknowledge that decisions should support the overall health and wellbeing of all children, adolescents, their families, and their communities.
● Emphasizes decisions should be made in close communication with state and/or local public health authorities, and recognizes differences exist between urban, suburban, and rural school districts.
● More information is included in the Appendix, but it is important to note the AAP states that where physical distance cannot be maintained, students (over the age of 2 years) and staff can wear face coverings.
