Audience Chamber • 250 seats on a raked floor

• Offset seating rows improve visibility for the audience

• Acoustic drapes along both sides of the auditorium enhance dialogue clarity

• Two centre aisles in the seating area

Theatre Specifications

Stage and Auditorium Dimensions

The stage is 24’ deep x 40’ wide with 4’6” side extensions to the wall. There is a 4’ thrust extension on the front (DOWNSTAGE) of the stage that is 24’ wide. There is a 4’ extension on the back (UPSTAGE) of the stage that is 40’ wide. The stage deck is 25¼”above the auditorium floor. Clear height beneath the onstage catwalks is 15’-9” – except where traveller track is hung underneath the 2nd and 4th catwalks. Rigging

• There is no fly system in the theatre. Everything flown must be dead hung from the catwalks, lighting pipes, or roof trusses

• Any items flown must be reviewed with GLT personnel for safety in rigging and load limits in the GLT structure.

• Only rated hardware may be used for rigging

Soft Goods

• Two-panel black traveler (about 40’ wide) can be used either on an upstage track or as a main on a downstage track (beneath catwalk #2 or catwalk #4)

• Manual draw operation from stage right

• Full-stage width white scrim (about 40’ wide) may be used upstage as a cyclorama (with or without traveler in front of it) – available subject to approval by GLT tech personnel

• Twelve black fabric legs (about 4’ wide) can be hung two-to-a-pipe (about 8’ of width) on angle, with three pipes on each side of the stage - or used otherwise as masking.

Stage Deck

• The 40’ x 24’ centre section of the stage is built from 4’ x 8’ wooden risers topped with ¾” plywood, Tentest for sound proofing, and Masonite painted black

Projectors

• Two Sony VPL-CS5 data projectors, 1800 lumens, w/ Composite, S-video, VGA inputs

• Projector mounts are available in two positions on the centre line of the theatre o One position accommodates projection on to the scrim when it is hung upstage o One position accommodates projection on to the scrim when it is hung downstage

• One VGA HD-15 pin cable extends from the booth to either projector position

Backstage Facilities

Dressing Rooms

• One large dressing room is available backstage. This room includes 12 performer stations at counters, a special make-up area with a sink, a fridge, a microwave, and two washrooms – one with a shower

• The Rehearsal Hall can be used as an additional dressing area and privacy spaces can be assembled using spare flats, etc.

Kitchen

• The kitchen includes: a fridge, an electric stove, sinks, a microwave, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, dishware, and cutlery

Wardrobe

• Costume racks, a washer, and a dryer are available

Workshop

• There is a large workshop with a table saw, chop saw and work tables

Miscellaneous • The following decibel restrictions are in place for the theatre and will be strictly enforced:

• Guelph Little Theatre – 100 dBA

• No recordings of any kind, either audio or video, may be made without the prior approval of Guelph Little Theatre

• Costumes, props, and set pieces may be available for rent

• Use of the cloth scrim is at the discretion of the GLT Technical Director. Should the GLT Technical Director feel that there is possibility that - due to the nature of the show - the scrim may be damaged then the client will be required to sign a waiver taking responsibility for all damage and replacement costs

Safety Rules

In the event of a fire alarm or other emergency, all visiting technical personnel and artists take direction from GLT personnel, specifically in regards to fire regulations, policies and procedures. No drink or food allowed on stage or in the House – bottled water is the only exception. Under no circumstances is any form of alcohol allowed anywhere in the building other than the lobby/bar area when being served.

Safety Requirements for Technical Crew

A. Steel Toe (green triangle) footwear is required on load-ins, load-outs, fit-ups and tear-downs B. Closed Toe footwear in good repair is required at all times - except for performers as dictated

by the artistic demands of a production C. Hard Hats will be required at the discretion of the GLT TD and/or Show Producer D. A full body harness - properly secured to an appropriate attachment point - is required when

working on the catwalks

All work at Guelph Little Theatre must meet with OMOL Standards.

Ontario Ministry of Labour (OMOL) Regulations

The OMOL has deemed that work in theatres is covered by two sets of regulations.

First, while a show is either loading-in and fitting-up, or a show is tearing-down and loading-out, work in a theatre is covered by the Construction Regulations. Second, once a show is set-up work in a theatre is covered by the Industrial Regulations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Footwear

Ontario Regulation 213/91 Construction Projects states: 23. (1) Every worker shall wear protective footwear at all times when on a project.

O. Reg. 213/91, s. 23 (1). (2) Protective footwear shall be a safety shoe or safety boot, Green triangle Omega symbol

Ontario Regulation 851 Industrial Establishments states:

82. A worker exposed to the hazard of foot injury shall wear foot protection appropriate in the circumstances. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851, s. 82.

Ontario Regulation 851 Industrial Establishments states: 80. A worker exposed to the hazard of head injury shall wear head protection

appropriate in the circumstances. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851, s. 80. Working at Heights

Ontario Regulation 213/91 Construction Projects, Section 26.1 to 26.9 and Section 147 apply.

An OMOL inspector fines individuals for violations and will stop all work in the theatre.
