Another year is in the history books. Memories established. Joys experienced. Sorrows en-
dured.
Now we move to the prospect of a new beginning with the dawn of a new year. It’s a time to
evaluate the past and press on to the future making necessary adjustments that will improve
our walk with God and others. It’s not about a resolution but a recommitment of your life and
will to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
There were many highlights in the life of our church this past year. We experienced a series of
revival meetings that witnessed a powerful move of the Holy Spirit in our church and commu-
nity. Over 200 teenagers attended the Youth Night and many of them made decisions for
Christ. We are still following up and confirming the genuineness of those decisions. Several
have already been baptized.
Our mission strategy has continued to develop as we sent teams to Mexico and Latvia again
this year. Mission involvement in our community continues to take a priority in our strategy.
We are constantly seeking God for the places He wants us to connect and make a difference
for His glory.
Our youth ministry experienced a great blessing with the addition of Amanda Gabbart as our new full time Youth Minister. Amanda has been part of us as a lay leader, has served as Interim
Youth Minister on two occasions and so it seemed that God was definitively leading us to her
as the person to give leadership to our youth ministry. More youth are attending youth wor-
ship on Wednesday nights and Bible study on Sunday mornings than at any time in the history
of GBC. What a mighty God we serve!
Vacation Bible School, F3, Sunday School, TeamKids and other children ministries have carried
on beautifully with input and direction of many volunteers. It is exciting to see people respond-
ing to God’s call and utilizing spiritual gifts to serve the Lord.
What a phenomenal Christmas season we had at GBC. Chris Lovejoy did an amazing job, along
with many volunteers, preparing and implementing “Georgetown @ Rialto” and the Live Nativ-
ity. Both of those events were done with excellence for the glory of God and to share the real
meaning of Christmas.
Challenges will always be with us. It is how we handle those challenges that make Georgetown
a great church. We have experienced our share of adversity but, by the grace of God, we have
seen Him take what Satan meant for evil and turn it into good. God always works all things
out for good and for His glory, especially when we are pursuing a relationship with Him.
Let 2013 be a year that you pursue the Lord with a passion. Through the good and the bad He
is always faithful and always worthy of our praise. Live your life in a way that praises Him!
By His grace,
