INTRODUCCIÓNEste documento es un glosario, el cual corresponde a la materia de Lengua Extranjera I de la licenciatura Ciencias de la Educación que se imparte en la Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa. Este glosario tiene como finalidad dar a conocer una parte del vocabulario que se impartió los sábados de 7:00 a 9:00 a.m. por el Teacher Cesar Augusto Cobarrubias Flores, contiene 26 palabras escritas en ingles y español, con su significado en ambos idiomas y tres ejemplos en ingles de como se puede utilizar en una oración.
GLOSSARY - GLOSARIOEARRING - PENDIENTE
• DEFINITION:small ornament for the lobe of the ear.
• DEFINICIÓN: pequeño ornamento para el lóbulo de la oreja.
• EXAMPLES:1. I lost the earring.2. My boyfriend gave me some earrings.3. I love these earrings
BREAKFAST - DESAYUNO
• DEFINITION:the first meal of the day.
• DEFINICIÓN: La primera comida del día.
• EXAMPLES:1. my mom prepared breakfast for all.2. Yesterday's breakfast was delicious.3. I want breakfast with you always.
WEATHER - CLIMA• DEFINITION: The conditions in the air at a particular time, such as wind, rain, or temperature.
• DEFINICIÓN: Las condiciones en el aire en un momento determinado, como el viento, la lluvia o la temperatura.
• EXAMPLES:1. The weather forecast for tomorrow is rain.2. The weather is constantly changing3. Cancun weather is warm and sunny.
CHILD – NIÑO(CHILDREN - NIÑOS)
• DEFINITION: A person from the time of birth until he or she is an adult, or a son or daughter of any age.
• DEFINICIÓN: Una persona desde el momento del nacimiento hasta que él o ella es un adulto, o un hijo o hija de cualquier edad.
• EXAMPLES:1. The child is five years old.2. Xiomara's children have curly hair.3. there are always children in the park
UNCLE - TIO
• DEFINITION:The brother of someone’s mother or father, or the husband of someone’s aunt.• DEFINICIÓN: El hermano de la madre o el padre de alguien, o el marido de la tía de alguien.
• EXAMPLES:1. My uncle Marco has two children.2. Nancy's uncle lives in New York.3. My mom's brother is my uncle.
WORK - TRABAJO
• DEFINITION:Effort exerted to do or make something; labor; toil.employment; occupation.
• DEFINICIÓN: Esfuerzo ejercido para hacer o hacer algo; la mano de obra; laborar.empleo; ocupación.• EXAMPLES:1. Learning English is a lot of work for me.2. Police work is dangerous.3. My mom works as a teacher in a school.
DISCOVER - DESCUBRE• DEFINITION:To find something for the first time, or something that had not been known before.
• DEFINICIÓN: Encontrar algo por primera vez, o algo que no se había conocido antes.
• EXAMPLES:1. Maria discovers that the sun is a star.2. I discovered that I had deceived.3. I discovered that the tooth fairy does
not exist.
WEARS - USAR
• DEFINITION:To have clothing or jewelry on your body.
• DEFINICIÓN: Tener la ropa o joyas en su cuerpo.
• EXAMPLES:1. Carlos wear socks and tennis.2. Mary wears sandals to the beach.3. My friends don't wear skirt to school.
PLAY - JUGAR• DEFINITION:To spend time doing something enjoyable or amusing.
• DEFINICIÓN: Pasar el tiempo haciendo algo agradable o divertido.
• EXAMPLES:1. Pello not play with me.2. Alfonso and daughter playing in the park
every Friday.3. Mimi plays with her ball all over the house.
COFFEE - CAFÉ
• DEFINITION:It is a drink made from coffee beans and you can drink hot or cold.
• DEFINICIÓN: Es una bebida hecha de granos de café y se puede beber caliente o frío.
• EXAMPLES:1. The coffee that I like is the cappuccino.2. The teacher drinks coffee every morning.3. The best coffee is produced in Colombia.
MEAT - CARNE• DEFINITION:The flesh of animals when it is used for food.
• DEFINICIÓN: la carne de los animales cuando se utiliza para la alimentación.
• EXAMPLES:1. Karina doesn't eat meat because it is
vegetarian.2. the hamburger meat was undercooked.3. excess meat harms the health of people.
BEAUTIFUL - HERMOSA• DEFINITION:Having an attractive quality that gives pleasure to those who experience it or think about it.
• DEFINICIÓN: Que tiene una cualidad atractiva que da placer a los que lo experimentan o piensan en ello.
• EXAMPLES:1. Monarch butterfly is beautiful by their
colors.2. Cancun sea is beautiful for its blue water
and white sand.3. motherhood is a beautiful experience
STORE - TIENDA• DEFINITION:A place where you can buy goods or services.
• DEFINICIÓN: Un lugar donde se pueden comprar productos o servicios.
• EXAMPLES:1. Cynthia likes to shop in the antique
store.2. Pet shop is closed for remodeling.3. Peter works in a sports shop.
FUNNY - DIVERTIDO• DEFINITION:Causing laughter, humorous
• DEFINICIÓN: Provocando risas, buen humor.
• EXAMPLES:1. Something funny is going on
next door.2. He felt a little funny after taking a pill
on an empty stomach.3. Diego is very funny.
PEOPLE - GENTE• DEFINITION:Men, women, and children generally.
• DEFINICIÓN: Hombres, mujeres, y niños en general.
• EXAMPLES:1. There were a lot of people there.2. Some people were hurt.3. Those people look as if they’re lost.
HUNGRY - HAMBRE• DEFINITION: Feeling the need to eat.
• DEFINICIÓN: Sentir la necesidad de comer.
• EXAMPLES:1. The children are always hungry when
they get home from school.2. Kim is so hungry for success that she’ll
do anything to achieve it.3. They were poor and often went to bed
hungry.
WONDERFUL - MARAVILLOSO
• DEFINITION:That causes wonder.
• DEFINICIÓN: Que causa asombro.
• EXAMPLES:1. Becoming a father was the most
wonderful experience of my life.2. I took a vacation and feel wonderfully
rested.3. The fairy world is wonderful.
HAPPY - FELIZ• DEFINITION:Feeling, showing, or causing pleasure or satisfaction.
• DEFINICIÓN: Sentir, mostrando, o causar placer o satisfacción.
• EXAMPLES:1. People want movies to have happy
endings.2. Cinderella is happy living in the castle.3. Be happy and live beautifully.
SWIM - NADAR
• DEFINITION:To move through the water by moving the arms, legs, etc.• DEFINICIÓN: para moverse en el agua moviendo los brazos, piernas, etc
• EXAMPLES:1. She likes to swim at the beach.2. Gertrude Ederle was the first woman
to swim the English Channel.3. Let’s go for a swim this afternoon.
STUDY - ESTUDIAR
• DEFINITION: To look at something carefully to learn about it.
• DEFINICIÓN: Para mirar algo cuidadosamente para aprender acerca de él.
• EXAMPLES:1. I’ve got to study tonight.2. He began the study of violin when he was
only three.3. Myrna has to study English all night having
a test tomorrow.
DIAMOND - DIAMANTE
• DEFINITION: Valuable stone prized as a jewel and having many uses in industry.
• DEFINICIÓN: Piedra valiosa estimada como una joya y que tiene muchos usos en la industria.
• EXAMPLES:1. A diamond engagement ring.2. They stole a very expensive diamond
ring.3. The stars shine like a diamond.
PARENTS - PADRES• DEFINITION:A person in relation to his or her offspring; a mother or father.
• DEFINICIÓN: Una persona en relación con su descendencia; una madre o un padre.
• EXAMPLES:1. My parents will come to visit me on
Thanksgiving.2. George and his parents traveled to Spain in
the summer.3. David played football yesterday and his
parents went to cheer.
PICTURE - IMAGEN• DEFINITION:A representation of someone or something produced by drawing, painting, or photographing.
• DEFINICIÓN: Una representación de alguien o de algo producido por el dibujo, la pintura o la fotografía.
• EXAMPLES:1. It won an Academy Award for best picture.2. The statistics do not paint an optimistic
picture.3. Brian takes lots of pictures.
FRIEND - AMIGO
• DEFINITION:A person you know well and like a lot, but who is usually not a member of your family.
• DEFINICIÓN: Una persona que usted conoce bien y le gusta mucho, pero que por lo general no es un miembro de su familia.
• EXAMPLES:1. Today I got a call from a friend of mine.2. Well, friends, I think it’s time to go.3. Martha y Lupita son mis mejores amigas.
LOVE - AMOR• DEFINITION:To have a strong affection for someone, which can be combined with a strong romantic attraction.
• DEFINICIÓN: Tener un fuerte afecto por alguien, que se puede combinar con una fuerte atracción romántica.
• EXAMPLES:1. She’s fallen in love and made plans to marry.2. I think he's in love with Anna.3. You are the love of my life.
HARD - DIFÍCIL
• DEFINITION:Difficult to understand or do.
• DEFINICIÓN: Difícil de entender y hacer.
• EXAMPLES:1. The homework of English is very hard
to do.2. She always does things the hard way.3. His boss is giving him a hard time.
CONCLUSIÓN Este glosario fue de gran utilidad para recordar algunas palabras que aprendí durante el curso de la materia Lengua Extranjera I y también me permitió reforzar la forma en que puedo utilizarlas.
