Entrance Requirements

Schoolsrequire3yearsofstudents’transcriptstranslatedtoEnglish,anEnglishcompetencytestneedstobedoneforexampleTOEFL,TOEFL

Junior,SLATE,ITEP,medicalrecordsandimmunizations.Someschoolswillrequireanintervieweitherby

Skype,phoneorinperson.

ThestudentmusthavetheirrequiredvaccinationsuptodatebeforecomingtotheUSA.Thevaccinationrecordisrequiredbytheschoolbeforethestudentcan

startclasses.

Intheeventthattheparticipantis18yearsofageatanytimeduringtheprogram,theparticipantisstillconsideredaminorandundertheresponsibilityofGlobalStudentServicesofAmerica.AllstudentsmustshowrespectatalltimesandobeytherulessetforthbytheUSgovernment.

For students andnatural parentsAllstudentsmustfollowallrulesandguidelinessetforthbyGlobalStudentServicesofAmerica’sDirector,Representatives,andhostfamiliesandschool

officialsatalltimes.

ParticipationinaU.S.school,thestudentmustmaintaina“C”oraboveonanyreportcardinany/allcourses.Areviewmeetingwillbearrangedbytheprogramrepresentativeatanytimethestudentisexperiencingacademicdifficultyorisexhibitingapoorattitude.Ifthereisnoimprovementaftera

reasonableamountoftimeGlobalStudentServicesofAmericareservestherighttosendthestudentbackhometotheircountry.

Ifthestudentisexpelledfromschoolforanyreason,thestudent’sparticipationinthisprogramwillendandthestudentmustreturnhomeimmediately.Drinkingofalcoholicbeveragesandsmokingarestrictly

prohibited.Ifastudentfindshim/herselfinasituationwherealcoholisbeingservedorconsumed,theymustimmediatelyremovethemselvesfromthesituation.

For students andnatural parentsAnyhigh-riskactivitiessuchasdriving,skydiving,hunting,ridingadirtbikearenotstrictlypermitted.

PermissionofthenaturalparentsmustbegivenatalltimesforanyhighriskactivityalongwithGlobalStudentServicesofAmericastaffpermission.

Anyviolationatthelocal,state,orfederallawsintheU.S.A.willresultinimmediateremovalandmaycauseproblemswithyourreturningtotheU.S.A.inthefuture.Theftandshopliftingareconsideredseriousoffenses,aswellas

shippingormailinganymaterialsconsideredhazardousbytheU.S.PostalSystem.Thismaycausepolicetobeinvolvedandistakenveryseriously.

Occupied,prolongedorinappropriateuseoftheinternet,includinge-mailorchatrooms,willresultinawarningandmayleadtoprogramtermination.StudentsareheretointeractwithanAmericanfamily.

Studentsarenotallowedtotraveloutsidethelocalareawithoutadultsupervisionunless

parentssignaliabilitywaiver.

Overnighttravelisonlyallowedifapprovedbythehostparents,naturalfamilyandGlobalStudentServicesofAmerica.IfastudentisinvitedtovisitarelativeorfamilyfriendintheAmerica,itmustbeagreeduponbythehostfamilyandGlobalStudentServicesofAmerica.Acompletedtravelformmustbecompletedand7daysadvancenoticemustbegivenatalltimessoampletimeisallowedtogetthenecessaryapprovalsneededforstudentstotravel.

Writtenpermissionfromthestudent’snaturalparentspriortotravelagreementreleases

GlobalStudentServicesofAmerica ofallprogramresponsibility.Allformsmustbesignedbynaturalparents.Inordernottohinderintegrationinthehostfamily,andbecausesharingholidaysisanessentialpartoftheforeignexperienceandculture,studentsareexpectedtoremainwiththehostfamily.

F-1studentsaregiventheoptiontoremaininthehostcountryorreturntohomecountryforasummerholiday.

Host Family Guidelines

Thehostfamilyisresponsibleforthesafetyoftheirstudentthat

isintheirhomeatalltimes.Thestudentmustalwaysdiscussplansoroutingswiththehostparentsfirsttoseeiftheyareavailable.

Thehostparentsmustalwaysagreetowhere,when,andwithwhomthestudentmaygo,andforhowlongthestudentmaybegone.Thisisanimportantrulethatshouldbefollowedatalltimes.

Youmustobeyyourhostfamilywishesandregulationsincluding

curfew,householdchores,dating,smoking,drinking,useoftelevision/telephone,thecomputer/internet,etc.

Thehostfamilyfeelsmorallyresponsibleforthestudenttheyhost.TherearenosexualrelationsallowedintheGlobalStudentsServicesofAmericaProgram.

Host Family GuidelinesOurexperiencewithforeignexchangehasproventhatvisitsfromnaturalparentsorrelativesareagreatsourceofproblemsandmisunderstandingsfor

examplehomesickness,interruptingtheintegrationwiththehostfamily,schoollife,sociallife,etc.whichcanhavedetrimentaleffectsonthestudent’sstay.Allvisitsmusthaveatravelformcompletedandsignedbynaturalfamily,hostfamilyandGlobalStudentsServicesofAmericaheadoffice.

Naturalparentsagreetopayforanyandalltelephonecallsmadebytheparticipantincludinganycallsmadewhichmayappearonthehostfamily’stelephonebillafterthedepartureoftheparticipant.

GlobalStudentsServicesofAmerica reservestherighttosendastudentshomeimmediatelyfor:physicalhealthconcerns.Thismayincludeeatingdisorders,emotionalhealthconcerns,falsestatementsinanymatter,etc.

Naturalparentsagreetopayforanymedicalanddentalbillsnotcoveredby

theaccidentandsicknessinsurancepolicy,andagreetopayforanydeductibleandout-of-pocketexpensesthattheinsurancepolicymaynotcover.
