global service jam 2012: piki eaters
DESCRIPTION
A service design project created during the 48 hour Pittsburgh Service Jam that aims to turn around the idea of what it means to be a "picky eater" and make it easier for those with dietary restrictions (whether self or medically imposed) to find restaurants where they can eat happily and healthily.TRANSCRIPT

When you go out to eat, or go to the grocery store, or even cook a meal at home with your family, you might !nd yourself with this label.
To tell you more about Piki Eaters, let’s meet Phil.
Phil is 52, an accountant, and lives with his wife and 2 kids. He loves his daily co!ee and donut, and every night he watches his favorite TV show on the couch.
Six months ago, Phil’s doctor diagnosed him with type 2 diabetes. Phil is stubborn and wants to be independent, but he’s also a little scared.
Now it’s almost Valentine’s Day, and Phil wants to take his wife Mary out for a nice dinner.
Mary says, “But your doctor says you have to eat healthy, and it’ll be hard for you to !nd a good restaurant for you. I’ll just cook.”
Phil is more determined than ever to !nd a nice restaurant to surprise his wife.
He !nds a romantic Italian restaurant, but when he checks out the menu, he sees there’s hardly anything he can eat.
Phil is bummed.
Then he sees an ad for a new site called Piki Eater.
The !rst step is for him to create a quick and easy pro!le of his dietary needs.
Right away, he’s able to !nd results that will work speci!cally for him.
He can see menu items, pictures, and ratings.
With Piki Eaters, Phil !nds a great restaurant that will make both him and his wife happy.
Dinner is delicious, and Phil scores big points with his wife.
We understand that eating out when you have
dietary restrictions can be frustrating.
We think you should be able to enjoy a dinner
out without feeling self-conscious about
tailoring your meal to your needs.
