Course Information

OverviewViolence has devastating effects on the health and well-being of children and occurs in every country in the world. Violence is often deeply rooted in cultural, economic and social practices and inhibits the potential for children to contribute to society. Violence negatively affects their ability to learn and their social and emotional development.

Through expert faculty, a keynote address and interactive panel discussions, this conference will provide learning opportunities for attendees to understand the global reality and response to violence against children. Resources and effective interventions for clinicians working with children exposed to violence will also be explored.

Learning ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Recognize the psychosocial consequences of violence on children and society globally

• Describe the response of international organizations to violence against children

• Identify resources for professionals working with children exposed to violence
