CHRISTIANITY The majority of Christians no longer live in North America and Europe.

CULTURE Religious and cultural diversity in the United States is rapidly increasing.

CHURCH The missional church movement and increased short-term missions changed how congregations practice mission.

A New Missionary SituationWe stand committed to answering God’s call to mission in the midst of major global shifts:

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s mission is to serve Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission. At the forefront of the modern missionary movement, Baptists have been forming together for more than two centuries to make disciples of all nations. The Fellowship supports long-term field personnel serving in 30 countries, Student.Go interns and hundreds of short-term mission teams annually.

These shifts and our current global context require unprecedented clarity and focus.

Clarity through Our CommitmentsEmpowered by the Holy Spirit, we cultivate beloved community, bear witness to Jesus Christ and seek transformational development among people and places otherwise forgotten or forsaken.

CULTIVATING BELOVED COMMUNITY: We cultivate communities of reconciliation and hospitality that serve as signs, instruments and foretastes of the kingdom of God.

BEARING WITNESS TO JESUS CHRIST: We bear witness to the gospel through words that invite faith in Jesus and actions that embody the way of Christ.

SEEKING TRANSFORMATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: We seek to transform systems that suppress the capacity of individuals and communities in order to recognize, claim and celebrate the God-given gifts of all people and places.

PARTNER SUPPORT FOR MISSION PROGRAMMING: All CBF field personnel will raise support primarily from friends-and-family networks to fund their personal mission programming budgets.

MISSION ENDOWMENT FOR INNOVATION: Global Missions will adopt an intentional strategy to grow its endowment to fund mission innovation and undergird CBF’s mission budget over time.

How we innovate in the 21st Century

OFFERING FOR GLOBAL MISSIONS FOR MISSION PRESENCE: The annual Offering for Global Missions secures the long-term presence of all CBF field personnel.

A NEW FUNDING MODEL

“In a new missionary situation, CBF is committed to long-term missionary presence that can change the world.”

– Steven PorterCoordinator of Global Missions

ABOUT 2/3 OF FUNDING ABOUT 1/3 OF FUNDING

ABOUT 10% OF FUNDING BY 2020

The new funding model allows churches and individuals to support missions strategically through offerings and direct gifts that sustain all the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s work around the world.

EVERY UNDESIGNATED GIFT: A percentage of every undesignated gift to CBF supports our mission work on the field through member care, administration and church engagement.

Our Horizon

WHEN WILL THE NEW STRATEGIC PLAN BEGIN? Much of the new vision plan is already active. Field personnel will begin raising financial support for mission programming among friends and family in the fall of 2016. All field personnel will transition into the new funding model by October 1, 2017.

WHAT ARE MISSION PRESENCE AND MISSION PROGRAMMING IN THE NEW MODEL? Mission Presence secures long-term presence through salary, retirement, insurance, housing and child education support through the Offering for Global Missions.

Mission Programming includes the daily ministry expenses of field personnel such as curriculum, travel and event costs, as well as funding for projects.
