Introduction

Uttara Kannada is situated in the western coast o Karnataka.

Spread across 11 talukas -Ankola, Bhatkal, Haliyal, Honnavar, Karwar, Kumta, Mundgod, Siddapur,

Sirsi, Supa and Yallapur.

The district has one o the six atomic power stations in India located at Kaiga which generates 2,231

GW-h o power annually.

Project Seabird Greenield Naval Base is located near Karwar in the district.

Karwar Port, is one of the main ports of Karnataka

Total length: 355 meters

Capacity: 75,000 Mtons of Liquid Cargo storage

& 30,000 Mtons of Warehouse

Cargo: All commodities including

Petroleum Products

The Government of Karnataka has

a proposal to develop Karwar port on

Public Private Partnership (PPP)

basis for 6 additional berths

Katyayani Temple: situated 25 kms rom Karwar, the unique eature o this temple is that the shrine o the

goddess is in the shape o a ship

Yana, known as natures wonder, having 2 gigantic rock ormations encircled or thickly wooded orest, is

amous as trekkers paradise.

Idgunji Ganesh Temple: is an ancient temple at Idgunji in this place o hoary past.
