Biometric Mobile Application

• CBP made progress towards meeting biometric program goals;

• CBP tested the pilot program (biometrics) as well as conducted regular operations (screening boarding passes);

• Tests were conducted at 4 different airport in the nation.

Inconsistent Match Rates

Due to the following:• Age of photo stored in data base;• Matching certain nationalities (example:

U.S. Citizens take an updated visa photo every 10 years);

• Low biometric matching in U.S. due to illegal entry into the country (results in fewer stored photos in the data base);

• Quality of photo in data base creating “false rejects”.

Outstanding Questions• Funding for the program - CBP

receives visa fee & airport stakeholders;

• Increased staffing through FY2025 in order to incorporate biometric program & support of airline staff;

• Other DHS components are still questionable.
