The Global Compact was first announced by the thenUNSecretary-General Kofi Annan in an address to The WorldEconomic Forum on January 31, 1999, and was officiallylaunched at UN Headquarters in New York on July 26,2000.
The Global Compact Office issupported by six UN agencies:

Principle 1:
Businessesshould support and respect the protection ofinternationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2:
make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour
Principle 3:
Businessesshould uphold the freedom of association and theeffective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4:
the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5:
the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6:
the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment andoccupation.

Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Target 1A:
Halve the proportion of people living on less than $1 a day Target 1B:
Achieve Decent Employment for Women, Men, and Young People

Halve the proportion of people who suffer from hunger
Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education Target 2A:
By 2015, all children can complete a full course of primary schooling,girls and boys
