Global citizens
When you enter the school, the very first thing you notice is a vision of DWPS written on the big
poster in the middle of the atrium. And among other things, the phrase that catches the attention is
that Delhi World Public Schools aim to create global citizens. But what is it to be a global citizen?
In AIESEC we know the answer to this question. AIESEC is an independent, non-political, not-for-
profit organization that is run by youth and which opens the world for those young people who are
willing to set on the adventure. It is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their
leadership potential. AIESEC provides opportunities for volunteering abroad or taking on a profes-
sional internship. Volunteering is short-term, only for a couple of weeks, but it's important to keep in
mind that your perception of the world can change even in one week living abroad, when you are
there not as a tourist, but as a part of the community.
Internships are long-term; you can spend up to a year absorbed in a different culture, which widens
your perspective on life even more. So how is it all connected with being a global citizen? In AIE-
SEC we believe that with each experience, four main qualities are being developed: ability to em-
power others, being solution oriented, more self-aware, and in the core of it all lies us being global
citizens. What is it all about? Global citizen or world citizen is someone who is aware of global
events, and is actually interested in them, someone who enjoys taking an active role in contributing
towards making the world a better place for everyone. It is a person who is respectful towards the
world, other countries, their customs, and people as a whole. How do you achieve that?
To my mind, the most unorthodox, the most interesting, the toughest, and simply the best way to do
it is to travel and see everything with your own eyes, to be exposed to different cultures, to share sto-
ries and memories with people from all around the world. Living a real experience. That’s what it is
all about. And by living a real experience you can create real impacts and break stereotypes along the
way. If you set off on such an adventure, the most important thing is to be open, and always be grate-
ful for all the experiences that you have during that time. And with a volunteering or a professional
internship, you can meet people from all around the globe, and together you can learn and discover
more.

Blessed by you, Mom A mother who always cares,
A mother who's always there,
A mother who always prays,
A mother who always stays.
When things get rough,
When life gets tough,
When all is just too much to bear.
God's word she shares.
God's light she shines.
I feel so blessed
That god made this mother mine.
LOVE YOU MOM!

HAPPINESS
Happiness comes now and then,
We cannot be sure just when.
But when its there, enjoy each hour
Because happiness has such power.
Joy to you it will bring
Even make someone else sing.
What peace of mind happiness can
show
Making you and others glow.
Nurture it, make it last
Forget the troubles of the past.
Never fear that it will go
For it could always grow.
And then tomorrow there it will show.

ART Art has a meaning uncertain
and boundaries unexplored.
Sketching is all they link art with
But we mustn't believe what we are told.
You create art when you dance
And while you hit the drums,
When you compose lines out of your heart
That will be remembered for years as art.
Art isn't just painting strokes forth and back
It is skill, talent, flair and knack.

Dirt On My Shirt
There's dirt on my shirt
And leaves in my hair
There's mud on my boots
But I don't really care.
Playing outside is so much fun
To breathe the clean air
And feel the warm sun
To stomp in a big puddle
And have a lot of fun.
