DrumFit – April 9 and 10 Thanks to the hard work of the SCC and your
generosity through the Dance-a-thon in
February, we are pleased to provide a
combined fitness and music opportunity for
students through DrumFit. On April 9 and 10,
students will have an opportunity to participate
in this engaging program.
What is DrumFIT?
DrumFIT® is a fitness based drumming program
that combines the music and mental health
benefits of drumming with the overall
health benefits of physical fitness for a full-body
workout! DrumFIT is an innovative program that
truly engages everyone! There is no learning
curve, everyone can drum.
Family DrumFit Night
On Friday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. parents can
come with their children to participate in an
evening of Family DrumFit for free as well. We
hope to see you and your family.
Principal’s Message
Happy Spring everyone and welcome to the
spring cleaning we are working on in our
newsletter. We are going to play with a couple
of different templates and welcome your input.
There are many exciting things happening at
Glen Dhu in the next three months of school
and we will do our best to keep you apprised of
everything.
We want to share with you some very exciting
news. Mr. Anderson, one of our Grade 5
teachers, was nominated for a teacher award
by one of his students, and we are pleased to
announce that he is the winner! On Tuesday,
March 31, OMNI TV came to film Mr. Anderson
and his class to showcase the wonderful things
happening in his room. The celebration
wrapped up with 2 for 1 Pizza providing a party
for the class. We want to congratulate Mr.
Anderson for this very fitting award! Keep your
eyes open on the following website for
updates.

Earth Heroes:
Finn decided he
needed to take care of
our neighbourhood by
picking up garbage.
Sister Ella and Finn filled
two bags in two days
from around the school
and on their walk
home. Amazing to see
little people doing
great things!
Planning for Next Year
It is hard to believe, but we are well into our planning for
the 2015-2016 school year. We are in the early stages of
the staffing process at this time. It is important to know if
your child is not returning to Glen Dhu next year. Except for
our grade 8 students, who we know are leaving, please
call the office at 905 668-8779 if you will be moving over
the summer.
We will be determining draft class lists in early June.
Many factors are considered when placing students in
classes, including learning needs and gender balance.
While we do not accept requests for specific teachers, we
are happy to consider your input. If there is something we
should know about how we can best meet your child’s
needs when we are considering placement next year,
please send a letter to Mrs. Treadgold by May 22nd.
Down Syndrome Awareness Day
March 10th was Down Syndrome Day. Vaun, one of our
students, went to each class to help students learn about
Down Syndrome, inclusion, and to help raise funds for
Down Syndrome. Glen Dhu Gators raised $270!
Students wore blue and gold to show their support for
Down Syndrome awareness.

Invention Convention: Iintermediate students
have been working very
hard to come up with cool
science creations and
products that will help
solve some of our
everyday problems. Last
week they did an amazing
job at the Science
Invention Convention
under the direction of Mrs.
Castro. We are all very
proud of the students and
impressed with the level of
work and creativity all
students put into their
work. After judging and
consultation amongst staff,
the teachers made a very
tough decision. The
following are the team
finalists and will move on
to represent Glen Dhu at

discussion and anyone who is interested in participating is very
welcome. Please feel free to call 905 668 8779 or email me at
