OUR WORLD IS GROWINGAs population growth continues to rise, so does the demand for food, feed and fuel. In the 20th century alone, population has grown from 1.65 billion to 6 billion. Traditional resources are depleting and the demand for sustainable ingredients becomes more critical. GIVING NATUREA SECOND LIFEIS OUR SECOND NATURE

CREATING SUSTAINABLE FOOD, FEED AND FUEL INGREDIENTS FOR A GROWING POPULATION

As population and wealth increase in many developing nations, better nutrition evolves and meat becomes a staple in the global diet. With increased meat production comes the question of how to handle the protein co-products that are generated daily. How do we ensure a safe food chain, for ourselves and for the animals that feed us and provide companionship? How can we help protect the planet for generations to come? Animal mortalities must be disposed of in an eco-safe manner. Composting, burial and landfills, if not properly managed, can endanger groundwater, encourage pathogens, and emit harmful greenhouse gases (not to mention, usable landfill sites are diminishing)... and each of these alternatives discard or destroy valuable nutrients.

We repurpose these nutrients – into a wide range of necessary and Valued ingredients and products.

Darling Ingredients not only offers a solution, we provide the safest and most efficient solution, safeguardiing our food chain and helping meet the growing demand for food, feed and fuel. Our unique broad product and service portfolio is active all over the world, customized for high end markets and local needs. Each day our dedicated employees live what our company believes. We serve society by maximizing nature’s value, so that people stay healthy, homes stay warm, trucks keep running and farmers can flourish.

OUR INGREDIENTS ARE EVERYWHERENumerous consumer, industrial and commercial

industries depend on our safe, natural ingredients to produce their goods that are used worldwide, everyday.

OUR INGREDIENTSOur ingredients may not be available on store shelves, but everyday, people worldwide are using a product or service that our company produces or provides: from pet food, biodiesel, hand sanitizers and soaps, to protein bars, sports drinks and collagen face creams - even the meat on your plate may have been fed by ingredients we create. We repurpose, rather than discard, the protein and nutritive co-products from meat-based diets, reducing our carbon footprint and helping to ensure a healthier, safer and more sustainable world.

Without our sustainable, natural ingredients, replacements would have to be found, as well as alternate disposal methods for the meat by-products our world generates – both possibly having a negative impact on the environment.

Most of what we produce falls into three priMary segMents: food, feed and fuel.

FOOD INGREDIENTSWe are one of the world’s leading producers of gelatin, which is used in the pharmaceutical and food industries (pill coatings, confectionaries, yogurts, edible fats, processed meats, natural sausage casings); health and cosmetic industries (calcium and protein supplements; collagen peptides; anti-aging products); specialty uses (binding agents; photo/xray films); and more.

FEED INGREDIENTSOur fats, proteins, oils and mineral ingredients represent our largest market sector, with sales to animal feed, aquaculture and pet food manufacturers worldwide. We also produce premium-quality natural, organic fertilizers from the materials we collect.

FUEL INGREDIENTSWe have pioneered development of biodiesel and renewable diesel from animal fats and used cooking oils, operating three biofuel facilites in North America. On a global scale, we create green energy in the form of furnace fuel, renewable gas and renewable electricity. Some co-products of our fuel production are naphtha; complex methyl esters used by industrial, chemical & agricultural markets; and renewable propane and butane.

SPECIALTY SERVICESDarling Ingredients is North America’s leading provider of used cooking oil and grease trap services to the restaurant and food service industry, repurposing the collected oils into biofuels or animal feed ingredients. We provide market-leading collection and repurposing of production residuals from the commercial bakery industry. We also recover nutrients from industrial wastewaters for non-edible crop and land application, reducing the farmers’ need for synthetic fertilizers.
